Or very close fight if the refs blow it. Renan got his ass beat and finished. I don't think he should get an immediate rematch. Make him fight once first. I guess there aren't many options but still, he got his ass kicked. TJ deserves a new challenge. Rematches for title should happen for fights like GSP/Hendricks, Gus/Jones, Chael/Andy (not SD but Chael was on his way to a UD), etc. Thoughts?

Renan doesn't deserve a rematch. He needs to work his way back to it.

Other situations warrant a rematch though. The Weidman-Silva rematch was warranted by Silva's streak combined with the way the first fight played out.

I agree for the most part. Big Renan fan but I don't want to see an immediate rematch with TJ. However I do believe there are rubber matches that are title shots that could be made right after someone loses the belt. Example... Jones loses a unanimous decision to Gus in the next fight (more convincingly then Jones beat Gus in a UD). Maybe its just me but I would want to see Gus Jones III immediately afterwards. Lets also say Renan wins his next fight, fights TJ again for the belt and takes a UD. Immediate rematch? Maybe? I think it warrants and argument. So many factors. It all comes down to the name of the fighter and the people they will draw. UFC is a business so implementing such rules that rematches should only be made under X amount of circumstances will never follow through. They will break the circumstances if it draws people in. Sonnes V.S. Jones and Diaz V.S. GSP.

I agree. I don't want to see Dillashaw vs. Barao II straight away, and I don't think many people do. The fights like JDS vs. Cain II and Silva vs. Sonnen II were much more anticipated because of the challenger having to actually fight for it. Please, Dana, no more immediate rematches.

rematches should be for close fights. im a fan of barao but he needs to win once or twice if he will have a TS again

Stupidest thing I've heard in a while.

A split decision is no indicator to how close a fight is.

As we saw last weekend.

Kinda stupid, since a split only means that one judge has another opinion, controverisial or not, either way there should be an open poll, for fans to vote if the organisation would find itself in need to ask for the fans opinion, either way it's just blaha blaha, since if can take a fight or two before a rematch you show more potential than... well you know.

You must have not read the entire post to understand what TS is saying. Maybe read some more dude before you post

IMO opinion the only reason Dana is touting a rematch is because a week b4 the fight Dana was stating that Barao should be the #1 P4P in the world! Well TJ made Dana look like a fukin' idiot! So now Dana is hoping Barao can redeem himself..and is going to look like an even bigger fool when TJ does it again!

The Weidman-Silva rematch was warranted by Silva's streak

Barao was undefeated since 2005 before losing to Dillashaw.

This is a obvious business move by The UFC. I'd be much more excited to see the outcome of Dillashaw vs Barao 2 then Dillashaw vs Assun

I read it, but his post contradicts the title, which is what I'm responding too. A close fight is a close fight no matter how the judges score it.

Rematches should happen after a draw. If you lose you should get your ass back in line. There are rare situations where they can happen but the recent epidemic of calling for a rematch after every title fight is wearing thin.

Good point.

That's still BS imo. Dillashaw/Faber would make more than a re-match with a guy he beat to a pulp and finished.

Obviously... Dillashaw and Faber train together and there seems to be some controversy between Dillashaw's trainer and Urijah.

I doubt the fight happens though.

It should be reserved for Very close fights, and controversies only. Not fucking TKO wins.
Thats a slap in the face if Ive ever seen one.

All this bs from Dana and the ufc is just getting so damn old. Its the same shit over and over again.

The ufc is F'n dying.
