I would have bet my house that Silva would absolutely destroy a slow moving forward plodding guy in a straight stance with no head movement, but you never know in mma!

I dont know realy. I dont think Silva is Faster then Adesanya. Stikland have wery wll prepared style to do this.
 
Anderson didnt look so hot against Weidman. I think people are seriously underestimating how good Strickland is. They just don't want to believe it. I don't think he'll have a long reign has a title holder but he's very good at what he does. He fought a damned near perfect fight.
 
I'm not super surprised with the result.

Sean has decent defense for non combo striking. Especially if they're not power shots.

I imagine Costa would KO Sean within 3 but still lose to Izzy

Silva was old, slow and his chin was gone which was evident by seeing his previous fights with pillow fist sonnen

these guys doesnt know prime weidman was a tank and has a great chin
he literally fought a ripped semi prime lyoto and beat him

I'm guessing you mean Anderson not Weidman? I'd say Anderson fought an awful lot of guys who weren't nearly as good at striking as Strickland though. The only one on Anderson's record who was a great striker is Belfort. Hendo had a big punch but wasn't a great striker otherwise and Franklin was good but not great. Leben? Lutter, Cote, Leites, Maia, Sonnen. None of them were good strikers.
 
It's becoming apparent that any high level boxer would torch on the feet Adesanya/Silva/whichever other stand up guy is supposedly a Jedi.
 
Threads like this prove that much of sherdog are casuals that just pretend to know what they are talking about.
 
Silva would have beaten Sean thanks to his ability to fight up close thanks to his elbows, knees and his chin.

Isreal doesnt have those to the same level.

Sean gave Izzy no space and upclose ..
Izzy isnt as great and once he got rocked, didnt want to try his luck in a firefight.

Franklin was better than Sean IMO

Sean is maybe a little better than Marquardt. Maybe on par with Nick Diaz

Hendo, was a decent wrestler still when they fought plus the HBomb

Vitor and Lee Murray were way better than Sean
 
Silva would hurt Strickand bad because he is much more unorthodox, diverse and unpredictable in his attacks than Israel which matches up much worse with Sean style.
Silva was also more powerful and accurate
