Imagine how great Jon Jones would be if he had GSP's level of discipline.

Jon Jones be partying and snorting cocaine before the fights and still wins. He doesn't even train until he signs for a fight. Imagine how dominant he would be if he trained year round, drank shark cartilage, and gave up the crack.

"Rehab Jones" is coming...

Well, he just moved to ABQ to train year around so assuming he cuts out the coke - we may see what type of a monster he truly can be. We haven't seen anything near what his ceiling is.

Keeping the mind stress free can be a big factor in performance. Training like GSP could make him worse. It doesn't work for everyone.

You guys would still hate him. You started hating long before any of this happened.

Conversely, imagine what GSP would have done with that kind of athletic superiority over his competition.

Jones has held it together well enough for a long time.

I highly doubt he's partying or an addict at the level of Kerr or Ricco.
Now those 2... They both had GOAT potential if they just had the discipline. Seriously, Kerr and Ricco totally blew it.

Would also mean more integrity aka no cheating & eye pokes >> mediocre LHW, top 5 at best

GSP was already athletically superior over most of his competition.

Yeah, it sucks that Jones is 37, at the end of his career, and no longer competitive... he was so close to being a champion.

This is a great post. There are many different ways to trains, with very nuanced differences.

Imagine how great he would be if you didn't care what he did outside the cage.

He would not have lost a round against Cormier.

Could be alot worse. Could be one of those sad cases of wasted potential.

And gsp is a once in a lifetime kind of guy in mma anyway

Well Jon is already a great fighter, better start to his career than both Anderson and GSP. But he will probably be even better when he is rehabilitated.

You have to let Jones be Jones.
