People view you as a domestic helper, or a prostitute if you work in another country (female)..

Even applying for a visa to another country is nothing but mission impossible, (especially if it's a filipino who interviewed you)...

I really hope one day China conquer this shithole, bring dignity to this country and turn Philippines into a better nation like the Marcos days...

Stories like these bring home how fortunate I am to be born in the US. People love to shit on our country, but seriously our problems truly are "1st World Problems". Even the poorest of people here live in luxury compared to some countries.

I've been low on money before, but never truly "poor" or really "hungry".

You must laugh at us when we're arguing which restrooms people have a right to use or when women here cry rape because some guy was staring too hard or coming on to her too much.

Where I live (Toronto), Filipinos are respected much more than not. They have become part of the city fabric, and have done well. They pretty much control the caregiver industry, and I don't mind that at all because they have proven themselves to be kind and patient with children and the elderly alike, especially children.There is virtually no violence contributed by the Filipino community in Toronto.

Hope your country turns itself around, but I doubt that will happen at least in our lifetimes as the corruption runs so deep. It's really odd though - maybe you can explain it to me - that almost every Filipino I've ever met and spent a little time with has been really nice. You'd think growing up in a shithole would produce a lot of shitty people. Maybe the good ones get the hell out?

Lot of Filipinos out here too (Southern Alberta) and they all seem like good people. Hard, competent workers. You walk into Tim Horton's or whatever and it's usually the Filipino's who got their shit together and the Canadian's dicking everything up
