I can't see it personally. I see the fight being similar to the first. Jones will outstrike him and either win the wrestling or equal the wrestling.
If you say so.
I say, Jones is still champ and Cormier is the one with the fake belt.
I need to go back and watch the fight, I didn't notice that(had my Dad and brother watching with me and they jib jabbing the whole time), but yes, that's something you need to do when fighting Jones.OSP actually did something rather smart in regards to that.
Every time Bones started to reach out and do that measuring with the open hand thing, Ovince would actually smack his hand or forearm down, then threaten with a punch. It actually made Jones hesitant to do it after a few times.
Other fighters need to learn from that, and do the same thing. Smack his measuring arm down, hard, repeatedly.
Preach brotha! Preach!Yeah, DC lost to Jones and his next fight was against someone else for Jones' belt. It's mind boggling how he has so much pride in his fake, totally disputed championship. Jones is the champion until one of these guys beats him or he retires. DC should be embarrassed and embrace the fact that if he wins his championship will finally be real. Unfortunately his is too fragile, to slow, to out of shape and not close to well rounded enough for the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be Jon "Bones" Jones.
Buuuuuurn.I bet you also thought you were the first with your wife.
Let me guess... you thought Cro Cop was going to KO Gonzaga and Randleman.. LMAOHold on
This is a current thread LOL
WOW!
DC is just getting older as time goes by and is coming back from a injury. Did I miss something?
I thought it was pretty clear he didn't have what it takes to beat Jon.
DC did everything right his first fight and couldn't impose his will and break John down.
When it's all said and done you have to fight perfect for 3 rounds against one of the hardest guys to take down, the hardest guy to hit with the longest reach and a whole shit load of creative weaponry. That's just to get a decision LOL
Jones has nothing but championship experience, he's fought must of his career as a champ and has dug in deep every time. There is no one with more experience and mental toughness in the game!
Jones wins do to his talent, creativity ,physical and mental edge every time.
DC started to fold and quit in the 4th, he was done and couldn't do anything. I didn't see him grinding it out, that says a lot about his cardio and heart.
This, this and this, a million times, Strongly agree with you. I always said Jones will never be the same since he broke his foot and now he can barely even finish opponents.(3) Jones broke his foot.
(1) DC is 100% on point mentally, he is collected, determined, he has the interim belt with one defence, his career is going smoothly, he believes in himself and believes he can beat Jones now. Jones looked rusty and emotional and his life has been all over the place with drugs and crime and more than a year off etc.
(2) Jones is also rusty, as we saw in his last fight, and was slowing down and tired early.
(3) Jones broke his foot.
(4) Jones got the better of the wrestling in the DC fight, but DC is still the better pure wrestler. Jones wrestled better in the MMA context, but DC has more room to improve. He was able to insist on the inside fight and get to the clinch at will, and was able to do damage from there. I think that he has learnt from that fight and those since and has more potential to improve and adapt here than Jones, who was reduced to getting double wrist control and leaning on DC with his hips at a distance just to stall the clinch.
(5) DC has more power in his hands than Jones and he was able to hit Jones quite a lot in their previous fight. He knows he can do that now and he knows how to do it and you can be sure we will do it again. Jones's gangly frame is at a disadvantage at that range and DC will hurt him with short, heavy punches from the inside. Jones doesn't have the power in his hands to worry DC, who has been in the cage with HWs.
(6) DC did get caught with some shots to the body early on in their last fight which slowed him down. Considering all the above factors and his wrestling-based style I expect him to pressure Jones harder this time and avoid most of those and tire him out in the clinch, which will allow him to land takedowns and/or a greater volume of punches on the feet or in scrambles.
DC by decision or late TKO. He only needs a small improvement over the last fight to tip the balance and I expect him to make it.
