I'm gonna be honest, this was one of the most memorable moments in my 15 years of watching MMA

This knockout is kind of haunting me. The way Poatan, this stoic killer, was left motionless on the floor when he was about to go for the kill, felt so odd..

All the build up, the tension between them, and the fact that they're both at the top of their game, made this fight so anticipated for me.

Adesanya playing possum and coming back from nowhere with this counter is something i'm going to remember for a while. Thank you MMA god !

I guess the Cro Cop KO was over 15 years ago.

But yes, the Izzy KO is up there with this

As well as this

Izzy wasn't playing possum. His leg was badly damaged (both legs, actually). The difference is that, in the first fight, Poatan went for the kill in the 5th round when Izzy was already tired and after he had rocked Izzy. In the rematch, Izzy wasn't tired or particularly rocked when Poatan went for the kill. Poatan got reckless with an opponent who was still very dangerous and he paid the cost. He has a bad habit of throwing combinations with his hands completely down at his sides, but he usually gets away with it because his opponents are already hurt. This time, not so much.

Izzy was limping off the stage from his post fight interview at the news desk so he definitely was feeling something, but yeah it was pretty incredible and this is why I watch the ultimate fighting championship.

I feel you 100%, one of the greatest moments in mma. Up there with Anderson submitting Chael in the last minute of round 5. I’m really happy for Izzy.

Matt Serra finishing GSP - for whatever reason I took a liking to Serra on the Ultimate fighter. One of the few season I actually watched. I just love the guy. he's such an ass, but also a nice guy at the same time. I love him hahahaha. Him beating GSP was like so insane. I never in a million years thought it would happen and probably cried out of excitement.

Masvidal killing Askren. Never liked Askren. never. That was one of the most insane things I ever watched. I was nearly asleep when the fight started as I usually struggle to stay up for the late fights cos of my work ... I was up to 4 AM after that one.

Izzy is the only one that knows that and I wouldn't call that going in for the kill Izzy was just not messing around this time

Idk ... he did a dance that takes a lot of leg strength and a kick up which also required leg strength right after the KO.

If he was hurt (and i do believe they were getting chewed up) ... it was definitely without question not "badly damaged" as u said.

It's sad because he was the better fighter throughout the fight, literally beating Izzy at his own game and slowly mounting an avalanche of offense.
