I got my blue belt tonight.

I feel like I don't deserve it.

Congrats. If you feel like you don't deserve it , than work to deserve it.

Wow big congrats guy, tell me how much training you have done and how your rolling is going out of interest. Im sure you will raise your own bar now to live up to the belt and it will fit you just fine.

I have been doing BJJ for about 2.5 years.
I crush all the other white belts in club randori. I can't remember the last time one tapped me.

I have very little knowledge of takedowns/defence and have never won a single fight in competition.
In fact I lost one on Sunday (yesterday).

3 of us got promoted today. All three of us lost yesterday.

if your smashing all your whites you cant be all bad and 2.5 years sounds like your paid your dues. I had a friend who to my knowledge lost every match he entered at white but got his blue, but he was one of the most technical guys and best teachers (to whites) in the class.

lol @ feeling like you dont deserve it, better step up and defend your blue belt honor!!!

I just can't help feeling like a loser for never winning a tournament.

I could upload the video of me in competition. It should be on my camera - I haven't really had much of a chance to look at it yet.

I might not feel I deserve my blue belt but any white belt who wants it will have to take it from my unconscious and broken body!

tounaments arent the best indication of your jiu jitsu. to do well in a tournament, you have to have great cardio, athleticism, strength, and play an aggressive style of jiu jitsu and force the pace. you have to have a good game plan. if you are fighting a wrestler, you may as well just give up on points and go for submissions, pull guard on judo guys, etc.

imo, the winner of most divisions, especially at big tounaments where you have to fight 4-5 times, is usually the one with the best combination of cardio, skill and aggression.

damn straight

My cardio was lacking in my match and I wasn't aggressive enough.

My opponent didn't pass my guard or even come close to applying a submission on me. He beat me with three takedowns.

I have started wrestling once a week and am taking steps to sort out my cardio.

I'll upload the match. It's not particularly exciting though!

Some good wrestling or judo training and your jiu jitsu tournament game will inprove 10x.. Make sure your cardio his high intensity interval training (uphill sprints and such).

goodluck

I live on the 12th floor of an apartment block and I'm thinking stair running could be good for me.

Almost no one ever does. Don't worry about it. Just keep training. Don't be one of those who get the blue and disappear!

I didnt feel like I deserved my blue until about 3 months afetr i had it

I bet you are technically excellent but maybe not athletically where you need to be to be competitive in tournaments. That's why you are a blue, even without much luck in tournaments. Nothing wrong with that.

For every winner, there's gotta be a loser. No reason to take losses hard unless you don't put up a good fight. Everybody loses except Rickson.

Not many feelsl ike they deserve it because other blues are tapping them. What you don't understand is that some of those blue belts could be ready for a purple belt.
