This was not a DQ win for Smith because he decided to continue with the fight after that knee ?
Shouldn't that be decision made by ref or someone else ?
Is there any official rule for sanctioning illegal knees, is that immediate DQ win, taking points or what?

I think leaving it up to the fighter is kind of unfair

It should be the ref/medical staff and even the corner before putting that on a fighter

Ref asked him if he could continue, he said yes. It's illegal but if it doesn't stop the fight then a warning is issued or a point deducted which, Jones did lose a point.

If Smith said he couldn't continue, Jones would've been disqualified and lost the title. Smith would become champion and a rematch would be made for more money than Smith will ever see in his career.

It would be embarrassing for Smith, he would win a fight which he was being dominated. He told that he wanted to win not to steal.

Exactly it's really a no win situation

A lot fighters could legitimately be hurt and continue only to be brutally and viciously finished about 10 seconds later...that to me is just asking for trouble

The knee was deemed accidental right? (Whether it actually was or not is debateable but that's what the ref called it). On unintentional illegal strikes it's up to the injured fighter.

Jones cheats with PEDs and while fighting

I see nothing wrong with asking the fighter if the doctor's allow the fight to continue.

Ultimately, it should be the fighter's choice .
Smith didn't bitch out like Weidman.

You think Weidman "bitched out" after taking the equivalent of a massive flying knee to the head which btw split him wide open?

GTFO....

Most fighters aren't pussies like you and want to actually beat the other person. If everyone was like you there would be no sports at all, just a bunch of people pretending the other person did something illegal and taking a dive. Fuck off and go back to your pussy life and stay out of grown man shit.

Koscheck would have taken the win and i would have loved it because he's a troll.

Either way a fighter shouldn’t be the one to ask if he wants the other guy to be DQ’d or not

True, if he would have said he was out of it, people would call him a loser for the rest of his life, but he legitimately had all the right!

I don't get why everyone talks about how Smith could have won the belt on a DQ if he said he couldn't continue. It is possible, but I think it's more likely it would have been ruled accidental and NC. Like Alvarez-Poirier.
