Ilia Topuria recently went off on Islam Makhachev.

Topuria (16-0) initially wanted to move up to lightweight to challenge Makhachev (27-1) for the title. However, Makhachev was unwilling to fight Topuria until “El Matador” proved himself at 155 pounds. When Makhachev’s friend Belal Muhammad lost the welterweight title against Jack Della Maddalena, the Dagestani announced a move to welterweight to challenge the Australian.

However, while Makhachev initially didn’t plan to vacate his lightweight title, he was forced to. Topuria will now fight Charles Oliveira (35-10) for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 317 on June 28 in Las Vegas.

“They talk so much bullsh*t. They act like they invented the sport… They talk, they talk, they talk and at the end of the day they do what they are told to do,” Makhachev told Kevin Iole. “They said they wouldn’t vacate the belt, they would move up to the welterweight division, that I will not get the title shot directly, that I have to do one more fight to get the shot. And what happened at the end?”

Makhachev’s teammate, Umar Nurmagomedov, recently claimed that Ultimate Fighting Championship executive Hunter Campbell visited Dagestan solely to convince the champ to vacate the title to make way for Topuria.

Makhachev's team initially downplayed the matchup against Topuria, saying the Georgian-Spaniard didn’t bring much to the table and isn’t a big draw in the U.S. However, Topuria believes his fight against Oliveira will be a bigger fight than a potential matchup against Makhachev. The former featherweight champ claims even Makhachev’s home fans don’t watch his fights live.

“I think it’s going to be even bigger, me against Charles than me against Islam,” Topuria said. “The one who is -- no one gives a f*ck about him, that’s Islam. Even in Dagestan, when he’s fighting, the people go to sleep and they watch his fight in the morning… Even at home, who gives a f*ck about Islam? Islam, he doesn’t even know how to pronounce two words.”

Ilia is so cringe-inducing. Stahp.

But he's copied every other facet of Conman's persona, so I'm going to go ahead and assume that "it's just business".

I don't think they even have Internet in Dagestan!!??💻
That's why there's no real Sherdoggers from there🐕

Lol, no, his fight with Charles isn't going to be some huge event. Card's not that stacked and the main event is a vacant title between 2 guys who've never had a big PPV. Topuria's trying to do the media tour, but it mostly comes off as cringe and trying to be Conor.

ofcourse its business, if a grown ass man believe this crap instead of playing along to sell fights he is mentally ill.
I remember when GSP said the cute little “dark place” line to Nick in the preflight conference, and El Diablo Diaz had to make the whole room go into awkward silence bringing up when he was held at gun point for a friends and somebody tied to a chair or whatever. I dont remember the story clearly but that shit was goofy trash in a serious voice.

I mean..... duh. But that's the cringey part. Talking mad shit about someone, their religion, their wife, etc., as "business" is fine. . . but you have to pay those "business" expenses when your job unfortunately happens to be fighting the person you're talking shit against in a cage.
And that's the really lame thing: Conman was literally too scared/cowardly to take the beating and tried to plead his way out of it by stating the obvious, "it's just business". A GOAT moment of cowardice in MMA.
