Alcantara steps in for an injured Roger Hollett according to MMAjunkie. He will face fellow Brazilian Wagner Prado at FX 7 on January 19th.

weird that he's fighting at lhw. Hopefully if he loses they give him a 2nd shot at mw.

Still good to see the Ufc sign one of the best prospects in the world.

Also for those who are wondering yes he is related to Iuri Alcantara(they are brothers).

A little more information on Ildemar. He is the brother of UFC bantamweight Yuri Alcantara and they each share the same nickname, "Marajo," for the region of Brazilian in which they are from. He was ranked as my #9 MW prospect.

Ildemar has fought at Middleweight for most of 2012 and has been on a solid run winning his last 7 fights, 6 via finish. Along the way he defeated a very tough Eder Jones, UFC veteran Edilberto "Crocota," and most recently Itamar Rosa (another solid MW).

Ildemar's conditioning is a bit questionable, so the fact that he's making his debut at 205 on short notice will not help that. His opponent, Wagner Prado, is a one dimensional striker that should probably be fighting at MW himself. Ildemar's own wrestling is not his strong suit, but his ground game is better than Prado's. Striking I will call it even, both have power, but neither are overly technical. It should be an interesting fight.

Probably returns to 185 after the fight. Knew he'd be in the UFC soon, he's been on a roll.

the guy who recently lost to Marcelo Guimaraes?

Prado will probably destroy him

yes basing his next fight on you looking at fight finder and seeing he lost to someone is always a great way to pick a fight. There is no better way to analyze fights than reading sherdog fight finder.

Thank you, agreed.

I had heard he was on their radar. He fought at Jungle Fight 47 so must be in decent shape.

He looked awesome in that fight. His fight with Eder Jones at Jungle Fights 41 was very close. I thought Ildemar had taken a step back and seemed to lack what it took to win against stiffer competition, but he's been super-explosive in his last 2 fights. He is a finisher just like his brother. Super talented, but his conditioning and TD defense make me question whether he will ever be a future contender at 185.

He definitely has work to do but a finisher is what he is. Im not sure why his last fight is classed as a TKO, the guy was out cold for a few seconds, ref was terrible.

Why is everyone downgrading Prado's tdd, I know he got taken down pretty easy by Davis but lets not forget that Phil Davis is one of the best wrestlers in the LHW division. As for the fight predictions, I'll pick Prado by early (T)KO or decision

Guimaraes had trouble taking fucken Dan Stittgen down...

but Prado got taken down by Phil Davis so he definitely has no TDD...

right bud

do you base all your decisions on mma math or one fight in a fighters entire career?
