The term mma is describe this sport is one f the many things that are a problem with it today. Amont other thing, the way the UFC run the sport, how there is still allusion to street fighting (well in the states) and overcommercialisation are big weights on mmas ankle.

Mma would win by having a cooler name like free fighting or something else. I dunno, get a focus group and make it more interesting. The name really sucks!
