Ignorance of Science in the United States

All of science - genetics, fossil record, etc. supports the contention that ALL humans are out of Africa. Deep, dark, scary black Africa. Skin needed to have lots of melanin & be black to protect from the sun.

Nothing contradicts it.

But some white republicans want to think they are a separate superior species. They need to feel superior.

So they need to reject science and accept baseless assertions that make them feel better.

Historically democrats were racist.

Historically Racists were Racist.

You should check out a thing called School and learn about how the ideologies of the parties has shifted over the years.

Or google it:

Lol. Its cute you think your right.. Its ok, I truly don't care about any drivel you happen to be vomiting. I plan on going back and looking at my Fetish porn now.
That escalated to a weird place quickly imo

Holy shit, this is god tier irony considering that you regularly peddle ignorance to try and combat scientific consensus. I literally laughed out loud.
"So called ignorance"

Agreed, Scientific Consensus is the not gospel and it is not the truth. It is however the best explanation of the current data among the overwhelming majority of the experts in the field.

And those who look at the "best explanation" as any kind of proof are the most ignorant among us.

Unfortunately, OP, I'm afraid you're correct, and a larger study would likely show similar results.
But many of us would fail if asked about certain things.
I can describe in detail what happens when a star like our Sun begins to die, but I can only vaguely describe the way the internal combustion engine works.

Turn in your man card plz

My thread on the man made Climate change deniers really brings this home

It's true thats why when it sounds like the fuel pump in my truck is starting to go and is the best explanation for it acting up I immediately consult a 100 year old truck manual and look for the hand crank. Because the best explanation is dumb. . .

So, according to a survey carried out by Oklahoma State University http://agecon.okstate.edu/faculty/publications/4975.pdf

80 % of Americans support food with DNA being labeled. In case you are also completely ignorant about science, I'll explain to you why this is absurd: almost all food has DNA. Your cereal has wheat/oat/rice DNA, your cucumber has DNA that makes it a cucumber and not a carrot, your steak has cow DNA.

Although the respondents consisted of 1,000 people designed to match US demographics, I'm convinced that an even larger study would demonstrate a widespread lack of knowledge about even basic science information. It demonstrates that people often form strong opinions on things like GMO's without even a semblance of rudimentary knowledge about them. In case you don't trust the Washington Post or think it's "fake news" or whatever, I posted the original study PDF. It's really fucking depressing me that this is the state of science knowledge in the US.
is this some sort of laymens term or a survey to make people look dumb? not about to read some link right now.

My favorite ignorance of Science that is the most easily identified are those that think men are women and vice versa.

I call it Biology Deniers.

I like Biology Deniers but I think 'Reality Deniers' is more accurate and comprehensive.

Sherdog is the most anti science forum I've ever frequented and plenty wear their ignorance with pride. If this reflects America in general then you guys are fucked.

If you ask that question, people are going to connect the dots and assume you mean foreign DNA and GMOs. You think that's stupid. It's very difficult to program an AI to have that kind of social intelligence.

Well if that manual was written by the Creator of the universe then I understand

Yeah we're boned

And those who look at the "best explanation" as any kind of proof are the most ignorant among us.

Science is not like Mathematics and Logic, there is no real "proof", there's only the best explanation among the experts. Those who do not have the education, expertise and experience to analyze the data and yet go against the Scientific Consensus are some of the most ignorant among us.
