I would want to be paid per fight. And that is how it works for a reason. You are not guaranteed 3 fights per year, so how can you be guaranteed a years salary? So you can forget being paid weekly or monthly. You get paid after your work, after your fight. Fighting is not like any other jobs, you are not called in to do specific hours per day, so you are not paid by the hour either. So the way in which you are paid is going to vary to. It simply cannot be compared to a 9-5 job.
Like Conor fights he makes a million, a new comer comes in makes 8k. They are both fighting an opponent of some sort in the UFC. So who decides who is worth millions and who is worth thousands? It is all relative. It's all about your value to the marketplace. So this idea of getting paid in wages is nonense in this line of work. That's why fighters are technically independent contractors and not employees. And an independent contractor can only be paid after their work, they cannot be paid whilst not employed. e.g. not fighting. They don't work for the UFC Monday to Friday so they won't be paid like they do.
