Don’t let it go to the judges, simple as that.
Boxing has had to deal with this shit for decades (Fury vs Wilder for example), whereas big misses happen seldomly in the UFC (in Nevada at least lol).
You gotta really beat the champ to be the champ, and in all 3 judges opinion, Reyes didn’t do enough to topple the goat. He has himself to blame for coasting in the last round, and being inefficient with his cardio (as McGregor would say). A rematch would be appropriate, but at this point, Anderson vs Blachowicz is much more exciting, due to the ramifications. Jon is still the GOAT, as per all three Houston judges, deal with it.

every time there's a UFC event I invite the boys over (no women allowed) to the ol' man cave & we have the time of our lives, better than anything you & yours have ever experienced. I have these wise words plastered above the door, & I tell ya, whenever there's a fight ending in a decision, I walk on over, not even having to say a word, where I lift one leg on a stool, crack a 30% smile & point at these words of wisdom while nodding slowly. the look on the faces of my bros just exude admiration & respect, they know I'm truly dedicated to the sport, looking so glorious with my mullet-hawk, barbed wired skull tattoos & Affliction tee bedazzled with rhinestones & electric neon foil. they know I am gloriously wise, & how they wish they could be just like me........... playing with their toes & shit.

"Don't let it go to the judges" is such a stupid saying, because it's basically implying that we know the judges are inept

If they're so dumb that you can't leave it to them then there shouldn't be judges in the first place

Maybe you’re right, but until things change, this is the reality of the sport.

I scored the fight for Jones.
But I really don’t like this “you really gotta beat the champ to be the champ” business. There are rounds, and there is scoring criteria. You win 3 of the 5, you are the champ, no matter how razor-thin those 10-9s were. I heard people make that argument after Dillasahw-Cruz. “Did Cruz do enough to beat the Champ?” Well, yeah. He won 3 rounds.

"Never leave it to the judges" sounds like victim blaming. Reyes has clearly won the fight, but he's the victim of the dumbfuck judges who either got paid to do this shit or have been watching some other kind of sport their whole career, probably sumo, if they think octagon control matters more than punches and kicks landed

I've said for years that the round by round, 10pt system is total trash for MMA. Boxing has many more rounds to make up for badly scored ones and they still fuck up decisions all the time.

The 10pt system promotes points fighting. When you have guys like Reyes whining that they were up 3-0 in rounds then we watch them try to coast to the finish, that tells you all you need to know.

The people complaining about how Reyes was robbed are the same people who think Hillary actually won the election.
