This is a good question. I wonder if the fear of having to pay a lot of money is a barrier to getting treatment or reporting symptoms which would increase the spread of the virus

Im sure its true. People gamble with thier health and try to gut it out to avoid bills all the time. A lot of strokes and heart attacks could be avoided for example but people ignore warning signs and poof. Im sure theres people will tell themselves its just a cold to avoid the bill as well.

If you have no insurance or a high deductible, simply to refuse treatment and try to walk away.... I'm sure the hospital would force you to get treatment for public safety, and then you'd be off the hook for the bill.
