Some are saying Yair was lucky it was 3 rounds instead of 5 because he would've lost. Do you agree or it's sour grapes?

I agree if it was a 5-rounder Yeremy would have won.

Some say Yair wouldnt have been as aggressive if it were a 5-rounder, but I doubt he'd give up that 2nd round finish opportunity regardless, so he would gave gassed.

Yair started to gas in the third round, and Jeremy was getting the better of him.

I think Jeremy would have taken that fight if it was 5 rounds.

Yes, a 5 round bout favored jeremy.

That's what surprised me, Yair was very aggressive in this fight.

If it was five rounds a kid would've been killed that night.

I was hoping Jeremy would win and I'd like to say he wins if it were 5, but as we all know anything can happen.

It was a three round fight and Yair won. There's no point in what if's.

I think that a 5 round fight would be beneficial for Jeremy. You can’t say he would win just because it was a five rounder, too many variables. But the momentum was shifting in jeremys favor for sure.

It's hard to say man anything could have happened, look at Conor vs Nate 2 if that was 3 rounds Nate would have been super salty since he lost the first 2 rounds and then won the 3rd round pretty convincingly but Conor returns and wins round 4 and loses round 5. Jeremy could have gone and won round 4 and not get a finish but lose round 5 who the hell knows.

in their first fight (those 10 secs yes) you could see yair coming out aggressive af, just like he did on friday even though it was a 5 rounder. you never know for a fact but i'm fairly confident he would've gassed in the third and stephens would've finished him late (considering there was less animosity and stephens would've actually fought a good fight and not stand there and let yair get comfortable at kicking range). i honestly had a good read on this one and had played jeremy in the first one and yair on the second.

    Agreed.

The other side of the coin, however, is that a more quick-on-the-trigger ref probably would have stopped the fight in the second (there were moments where Jeremy looked helpless there and the only thing he could do was move position rather than really intelligently defend himself or fight back). The ref ultimately was proved to be awesome in his decision making as Stephens still had a lot left to offer but I'm just saying if we are talking hypotheticals like- what if that fight had been 5 rounds- we also gotta factor in questions like, what if another ref had been in the cage that night.

I won't be surprised if there is a rematch at some point and its a 5 rounder. I don't think this will be the last of this fight. Something about it feels unfinished

True. The fight is over and Jeremy lost. I was just reading some comments about it and thought about it. I still thought Yair would've won.

Jeremy had been hurt to the body very bad. The momentum had in fact swung his way in the third round. Yair was breathing fairly easy in the post fight interview. Any body shot by Yair could have turned the momentum back in his favor. So it's anyone's guess how it would have played out.

Why are people saying this or that would've happened if it were 5 rounds? It'd be a different fight if it was 5 rounds so who knows who would win.

At the rate they were going, Stephens would have ended it in the fourth.

the thing you need to remember is that Yair is incapable of pacing himself. He would still have chased the finish and gassed himself out. That said, no one in the UFC chokes harder that Jeremy Stephens, so who knows how that works out.
