If/When Jones returns to MMA, should he sign with Bellator?

Jones is no longer binded to his UFC contract since he isn't a champion anymore. He will also not be getting any sponsorship money thanks to Reebok canning him and UFC forbidding anyone but Reebok from being sponsors. I'm sure Jones can still grab a few good sponsors and can make more money outside the UFC.

This would be a good way to stick it to Dana and co. for stripping him. He also will not be as nervous now that he won't have to fight Rumble in Bellator. This could be Bellator's chance to go head-to-head with the UFC if they are willing to pay Jones to sign.

Thoughts

So he just has to finish up his contract...

Maybe win 2 fights or however many he has..build himself back up as a threat for the title...then he goes to Bellator.

Bellator wins

So only champions are bound to their UFC contracts?
Word

It should definitely be something he discusses with his management.

I've wondered the same thing. However, if Reebok re-offers him the old contract (unsure if they will, who knows?), he might want to take that.

He just signed a new one before UFC 178 and used the Gus fight as leverage. Im sure he has a lot more than 2 fights remaining

Contracts, how do they work?
It would get old fast to see him steamroll the lackluster opposition there.

Is that a fact?

Who knows? The UFC likely has enough smart lawyers on retainer to write contracts and annulments in ways that best benefit their company. Maybe he's free to do anything he wants, except sign with a rival org.

Too much stupidity and misinformation that I don't even know where to begin.

Jones isnt going anywhere. Im sure they froze his contract as well. They did the same thing when Randy "retired."

It's hard to leave the UFC.

he wont go anywere, his comeback will be massive, its not as if UFC have done anything wrong to him, Im sure behind closed doors him and Dana came to some sort of agreement on how they had to approach this situation without looking like he was getting special treatment, bellator have noone for him, UFC only have Rumble left

he should just to stick a middle finger at that greedy greedy dana white can he i doubt it

Wow this thread is terrible. Jones is still under contract with the UFC, he was just stripped as the champion.

So he just finishes off his contract. Does anyone know how many fights he signed for?
