If Weidman wins, where does he rank P4P?

No, damnit. No. He still has most of a career ahead of him hopefully.

1.Bones
2.Aldo
3.GSP
4.Cain
5.Weidman
6.Anderson
7.Barao
8.Benson
9.Demetrious
10.JDS/Melendez

Something like that maybe?

He still would not rank on the P4P list, cause if he won, it would be a freak accident, or dumb luck.

Like several others...lol
He wouldn't even make any p4p list. One fight does not a legend make. He would have to consistantly knock off top ranked guys for years.

Even if he moved into the top 10 list he wouldn't be there very long. Anderson would reclaim the title in a rematch, Vitor would knock him out and Jacare would submit and or knock him out. So it doesn't really matter.

Everybody in here is wrong so far, why is P4P so hard to grasp?

All Pound for Pound means is that if everyone were the same size, who is the best. It's not complicated. There's ZERO prerequisite for how many wins a guy needs or whatever to get in the top ten. By its very nature P4P is speculation.

If Weidman wins it will show his style on one occasion nullified the greatest MMA striker in history (my opinion), so it should land him somewhere in the top 5. We know he's a great wrestler and has very good BJJ given his time studying it. If he and Aldo/Jones/Cruz/GSP were the same size would he be as effective? Who can say.

My P4P list if Weidman wins:

GSP
Aldo
Jones
Weidman
Cruz

Like I said, pure speculation.

Some people think Weidman is going to upset Silva, if he does, what happens to the p4p rankings?

Will it be something like this?:
Jones
GSP
Aldo
Weidman
Silva

Pound for pound rankings in MMA

*sigh* no

First off Jones doesn't leapfrog GSP's on-going streak of defenses in the event of an unrelated Silva loss and Weidman would be behind GSP, Jones, Aldo, and Bendo, but at least ahead of Velasquez and the rest due to the legacy of Silva.

It would also depend on how he wins in this hypothetical. Silva would drop in the rankings, but to where I have no idea. Silva is the greatest fighter in the sport and has been for quite some time now.

Spider will move to P4P 4th spot (behind Bones, GSP and Aldo).

Weidman will be in the talks, but won't make top-10 yet.

Exactly. People claiming he needs more wins to be placed in P4P rankings even after beating Silva and stuff like that have no idea how P4P rankings work.

Rigondeaux just beat arguably a previous Top 5 P4P in Donaire, does that mean Rigo shouldn't be included in the Top 10 P4P lists because he only has 12 Pro fights?

See!?

This isn't complicated!

And yeah, I was happy Rigo won, he deserved that. He's a P4P fighter alright, even if he isn't always exciting. His movement, his counters...otherworldly.

While recency is a big factor in P4P, what p4p is not about, is your last victory.

P4P generally attempts to measure you against everyone at any weight and you need more then one key win to do that.

If Weidman beats Silva who was ranked #1 p4p does that mean he can beat everyone or is just a bad stylistic matchup for SIlva, while he might lose to many others of differing styles? BEcause Serra beat GSP did that mean he was tops P4P, and should be expected to beat all the top WW's?

NO.

You need time and to see that person (Weidman or Serra) matchup against other top fighters before designating them p4p, even if they get one big win over a top p4p.
