IMO Brown has a better run than TJ did and TJ was getting a title shot so why shouldnt Brown... At least give him Woodley or Lombard for a #1 contender fight.

Grant had beaten Manyard who was ranked in the top 3 at the time if I'm not mistaken, I love Brown, but he needs to beat a top 5 opponent before getting a title shot.

Really wish he didn't pull out of the Condit fight because that fight would have been epic and settled the discussion.

Lightweight didn't have anybody else ready for a title shot at the time like Welterweight does.

Yes. Because Condit would've won and Brown wouldn't even be discussed about getting a title shot.

Grant got a title shot for knocking out a former title challenger and a guy who was considered top 5 at the time. Brown hasn't done that yet.

man, tj grant was a BEAST. he was an immediate threat to the title when he got injured. i think he would have beat bendo and pettis would have had major trouble with him.

Maynard was ranked higher than anybody Brown has ever faced, let alone beat.

Man fuck off. Do you understand context whatsoever? Gray Maynard was the number 3 ranked LW when TJ spanked his ass out in a round. TJ got the title shot for beating the highest ranked LW after Gil who had just fought for and lost his title shot. Pettis had declared he was going to FW then. No one at LW was more deserving. There are at least 3 WW's currently clearly more deserving than Brown (Rory, Woodley, Lombard) and a whole other bunch, such as Lawler, Ellenberger, DHK, Saffiedine, Condit. etc, all every bit in the same ballpark as Brown. Brown should be fighting 1 of those 5 next. The first 3 he doesn't sniff.

Rory lost one of his last 2 fights... Why does everyone think he's so qualified? And it was a pretty damn decisive loss.

How is a Split Decision a "Decisive" loss?

Maybe not top 3 but definitely top 5. And, at that time, Maynard had only lost to Edgar, so it didn't exactly seem outlandish for Dana to say "the winner of TJ Grant vs. Gray Maynard will get a title shot at UFC 164"

I think Brown deserves a #1 contender fight, he looked quite hittable but still, dat win streak.
Getting floored and otherwise being generally outclassed for 2.5 rounds is pretty decisive.

    Try watching the fight guy.

And you didn't answer my question... Why is Rory mentioned first amongst contenders when he just got beat up by Lawler?

If you want to make a case for Lombard, I see it. But Rory and woodley lost too recently for me to really think they deserve it.

Brown is definitely getting closer to a title shot, but it depends on what your division is looking like.

When Grant was lined up to fight for the belt, he was the clear #1 contender. The WW division right now I'd say doesn't truly have a clear #1 contender and there are a bunch of guys who have claim to the throne with good argument and Browns argument quite simply is weaker than theirs.

People want Brown to clean the whole division before he gets a title shot. Lol just give the man his shot. He's finished almost everyone put in his way during this run and he's exciting so you know you're going to get a good fight out of it.
