If Till misses weight, do you think Tyron holds true to his word and declines to fight Usman?

Usually , when fighter misses weight, the fight still goes as planned. Not sure why this one is going to be any different.

he will fight Till since the belt isn't on the line.

tyron would be a fool to take a fight with usman on short notice.

Everyone is misquoting woodley. He said he won’t be fighting usman because he will fight till —-> even if till Misses weight. This is a non-issue.

    Let’s hope the gorilla wins!

    Why would he fight Usman?

He still would hold the belt, even IF Till actually won the fight.

Till would be ineligible to win the title on a missed weight for a title fight.

He went back on that claim a bit when talking to Caroline Pierce, who really knows?

I'm sure he'd rather fight Till but I can't imagine that Dana won't flex his corporate muscles to get his way.

Usman is just posturing. As long as Till is cleared to fight and doesn't miss by like 10 pounds, the fight will still be on. Contenders have missed weight before without being replaced.

Does Covey still have that interim belt or did they take it away from him? Seems like they just gave it to him as a souvenir?

He's smart so he'll decline. Yeah it's not the "warrior's mentality" or whatever clowns on here like to parrot but Tyron is a businessman as well as a fighter. Taking an opponent like Usman on short notice is neither smart nor a wise business decision.

Unless it was in the original contract, I do not see the point in accepting Usman. Obviously it sucks for the fans waiting to illegally stream the event, but that's how it goes.

If Till misses weight, ban from WW for life. Rules and regulations for over weight fucks need to be set in place. Not title shots!

Also when you take into consideration that Kamaru has had ample time to gameplan for either one, mainly Tyron Woodley, should Till miss weight. Kamaru will have a sizable advantage over Tyron with that alone.

Here's to hoping we don't get a repeat of Whittaker vs Romero 2

I think Woodley is just being a businessman and will demand 1 million to fight Usman if they are desperate. I can't imagine they would headline with Shevchenko.

Previous instances where? If the challenger doesn't make weight, the belt isn't on the line. If Whittaker had lost the rematch to Romero, which he should have IMO, then he would still have been champ.

In boxing, if the champion misses weight, he is automatically stripped on the scales, but the challenger can still win the title if the fight goes on (providing that he made weight too).

This latter has only happened once in major MMA promotion that I recall: Sonnen/Filho 2. Filho missed weight, but the WEC decided that it would be a non-title fight.

...because it's Woodley and people are playing seven dimensional chess looking for reasons to shit on him.

Brandon Halsey lost his Bellator MW title on the scale in 2015. He still beat Kendall Grove and got to fight Rafael Carvalho for the vacant belt
