If this happened to ANYONE on the undercard, they'd be fired... agreed?

Would that be fair to say that if someone on the undercard broke the law, they would get fired rather than be sent to rehab and get praise from Dana.

Yeah it probably would. But do you suggest the UFC fires their champion? That's a stupid idea.

Depends but not likely. Dana doesn't give a shit about this kind of stuff as long as its not drawing or has the potential to draw a ton of negative press from the mainstream media.

But yes, if an undercard fighter looked horrible and lost a fight then Dana might use the fighter testing positive for coke a month before the fight as an excuse to cut him or maybe some boring lay-and-pray fighter but even a lukewarm prospect would get a pass for this.

it's not hard to understand why a marquee fighter gets backed and a nobody gets dumped. but sometimes a nobody doesn't get dumped when they do the appropriate thing?

This is a pointless thread because we all know the truth. Jones isn't the only one to get preferential treatment. The higher you go up the chain, the easier it is to get away with things. Cash.Rules. Everything. Around. Me. That's in any walk of life though. Still don't think it's a good look for Jone's "brand" or UFC business.

Why would fighters on the undercard be getting randomly tested out of competition?

A simple offhand remark found "offensive" would likely get an undercard fighter dismissed.

Cocaine usage could get him dismissed, followed by a fake, self-righteous rant about how the UFC does not tolerate illegal drug use.

Agreed. It's also highly suspicious how the results are only getting out now.

Well Jeremy Stephens got arrested the day before a fight for assault, and he kept his job. He may have been scheduled for the main card though.
