History is littered with tragic and evil figures who have the left the world a sadder and/or more evil place than it was before their lives. We all have some kind of talent, ability, etc. to offer the world and it's our choice how to utilize it in our lives. Will our legacy be helpful or will it be harmful?

May be interesting to think of evil or harmful historical figures and think what they could've offered had they "used their powers for good."

Even take someone as horrific as Hitler. His ability to gain followers -- even whole populations -- could've been valuable if he had encouraged them to a good end (say, battling fascists, Marxists and/or other terrible philosophies).

    Just a thought.

Not everything is bad about every historical tyrant. It also helps to teach our uneducated kind how not to be or act. Hitler did have some bright ideas like forming colleges to rule the land in order to have higher efficiency the only problem he forcefully wanted to do it in a way that causes conflict. Anyone that uses conflict is still trapped in the cave man stone age intellect and are useless to the improvement of mankind as a whole. We have to work together to elevate to a higher level of consciousness. People think one man or a skilled woman can do it alone, not the case.

Why's everybody gotta lead with Hitler? It's just a tired example.

I'm all for a moratorium on WW2 era examples up front. If there's a super strong point that can be made by bringing up a German general or something, go for it, but not out in front.

Like, why not Kim Il Sung here? Interesting life, and bringing him up doesn't drag with it all these absurd preexisting opinions.

Unabomber would be an obvious answer.
