If they fight, will Conor McGregor will be the best striker Jose Aldo has ever faced?

I was just looking over Jose Aldo's record and noticed all but one of his fights are against grapplers or "well rounded" fighters, the one striking specialist being Shoji Maruyama, currently 12-9, 8 KO/TKO but 5-1, 3 KO/TKO when they fought.. Now before anyone mentions Chad Mendes and Frankie Edgar, yes they have excellent striking, but they are of the "well rounded" category and were also at a bit of a size disadvantage when they fought Aldo. On the other hand, Conor will have a 2 inch height and 4 inch reach advantage to compliment his unorthodox striking. Not a huge difference, but still significant. Not to mention his confidence and work ethic.

For the record, I think Conor loses to Mendes, Edgar, and Aldo, but if they fought Conor, they will have their hands full. Plus, with all the talk of him avoiding wrestlers, there's no doubt Conor's receiving training to prevent himself from getting grapplefuct.

So what do you guys think? Jose Aldo has some very impressive knockouts and performances, but if you go by records, none of them are as specialized in striking as McGregor is.

I'd say yes he has the best standup so far, but more importantly he is a great counter/pressure fighter. The others have been standard offensive attacks from what I remember and aldos speed and reflexes eat them up. I think conor could possibly use Aldo's instinct against him and visa versa. Should be a very interesting match

Nope.

Mendes striking has come a long way Connor maybe more creative with his but mendes striking is sharper and faster and more explosive.

Connors striking is very telegraphed and a big mistake that he makes that his fans are blind to is connors chin is always up in the air when he strikes that will equal good night against Aldo.

Mendes provides different issues but I think Aldo handles that style of standup much better. It's his bread and butter to fight people that really commit to their offense. His defense is amazing.

I think a guy that is elusive enough to counter him but tough enough to put pressure at the same time will do better. Counter his sloppy pressured strike, or counter his counter. If mcg Is the guy or not, we will see

Jose Aldo trains with Andy Souwer... so the answer is no

Cub and Hominick are both better as is Edgar.

Zombie is the best striker Aldo has faced. LOL at Cub and Hominick being better STRIKERS than McGregor.. Oh dear...

Aldo will be the best striker Conor has fought.

i believe he would be the best boxer he has fought (not trained with as someone brought up) though the wide stance with his legs looks very inviting for a jose aldo leg kick and he does not have significant worries of a takedown like vs. edgar or vs. mendes which makes things somewhat simpler for him

Probably, I mean, Chad did look pretty impressive against Aldo in their second bout.

Possibly. We've never seen Conor and his supposed amazing striking on display against a legitimately elite opponent though.

Name someone other than Aldo who outstruck either of them? Also apart from his last 3 fights Conor has fought way lower caliber fighters and also lost to 2 of them.
