This is a question for the pro-PED fans (i am not one of them).

Lets say they allow the usage of PED's in the UFC. Lets say you are a fighter coming out of a poor country (or poor area/family in the US).

How will the poor/upcoming fighters, without access to expensive PED's, fare against a Jon Jones, or an Anderson Silva, or any fighters that already has the means and money to afford better PEDs.

How do you make it even for all fighters and not just the rich established ones ?

    In before wasteland

but- the "poor fighters" are likely the ones living in the countries where those PEDs are readily available, legal, and pretty cheap, they would be just fine.

Mexico has an abundance of steroids for example. Thailand is supposedly a great place to go on a "juice holiday" ... so really, this would balance out if not favor the "poor countries"

The "rich" countries would wind up being the places where those same PEDs are much more regulated, probably illegal and a bit more difficult to get your hands on.

I am more pro PED than most, partially because I recognize that many/most fighters are on PEDs anyway and they perform better and fight better that way. BUT.. this will NEVER ever ever ever ever ever happen in the UFC. There are now and have always been orgs with little to no PED testing where juiced up fighters could fight and they often have exciting freakshow fights because of it.

The bottom line is that life isn't fair and it is unrealistic and bordering on fantasy/impossibility to expect a completely level playing field, in any situation the cheats are often a step ahead of the system and the steroid game is a perfect example of this. The testing procedures are weak fighters know how to beat tests, cycle off, even artificially adjusted their T/E (which is often all that is really tested for)

Maybe we will see over a reasonably long time line a system that makes it very difficult to juice near fight time, or severely limits what PEDS fighters can use because they would never be that far removed from a possible random test... maybe.

Well, to be fair, right now what you're describing is likely happening.

Precisely, as you have said, because some fighters have money to easily beat those tests, while poor fighters don't.

Jamaica is not a wealthy country and they're dominating USA in sprinting for the past few years, so they must have access to good PEDS, or at least as good as the ones the yanks are using.

The thing about making PED's legal is that you can use stuff like human growth hormone regularly, something that is very expensive.

Making fighters hide, at least cuts the usage in half (for the abusers).

I don't think giving the impression to young kids wanting to get into MMA that PEDs are not only acceptable, but pretty much essential, is a good idea.

Some of those young people who are desperate to make it will inevitably fuck themselves up in the process.

Doesnt matter peds are illegal and hopefully they catch more and more cheats using the shit. Plus you end up with tic tac balls.

I agree that this is the most likely current state.

Or maybe their just better than the USA at sprinting? Nothing to do with PEDs.

  17. Watch GSP's first 6 fights. He was piss poor. He lived in his parents basement. He held jobs on the side. He was trained by amateurs. He was forced to wear black ink on his body to earn sponsorship money.

He still ran through everyone like shit through a goose.

Winners win, and legendary champions win more UFC gold belts than all the other champions that have come before them. Believe!

    Enjoy my sig.

There are some serious proven long term side effects. No insurance would cover the UFC if they openly used. It would screw with licences for fighters because no athletic commission would allow it. Too many reasons why the drugs that most people know they already use should be kept under wraps.

That's the truth they can use more highly advanced undetectable PED's until the new trend comes around. You have to lay the lumber on perps.
