How many wins would the tournament winner need to claim the title?

I've done the math, but it's interesting in the context of mma records to see if perception is close to reality.

Thanks to everyone but me who did the math correctly.

There are a bit over 1 billion males between 18 and 40. 2^30 is also just over a billion, so if you won 30 fights in a single elimination worldwide owgp, you would be champ.

PS, if you want to see population by year and gender http://www.census.gov/population/international/data/idb/worldpop.php

Well Brock lesnar would get a bye and smash whoever made it to the finals , so 1

Knowing my luck my opponent would be fucking Cain or Overeem or some shit.

I've done the math.

Better question is speculating on who would win.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I know who would win it all

Miocic, Stipe

Would love to see juiced Jones v juiced Brock.

Conor McGregor would be champion obviously.

'bout tree fiddy
Tree fiddy thousand could be surprisingly close to the number of wins required. 2.5 or so billion males 15-65 in the world. Shave a third or so off that to tighten the age bracket and get the square root. Comes out around the 3-400k mark on the back of my beermat.

lol just tell us the answer TS. ain't nobody got time for that

With a top-of-my-head estimate on what % of the world's population that would be, I came up with about 30 wins. Assuming single-elimination. That's actually more than I expected.
