Surely Viacom would buy it wouldn't they and absorb Bellator in to the UFC wouldn't they? What is $3.5b to $4b to Viacom? A drop in the ocean?

Maybe they have too much pride and ego to sell to Viacom.

Whoever is buying the UFC for 4 billion is alot richer and has more accessible funds than Viacom.

The UFC is said to be worth $2 B.
Most companies don't want to pay a lot more than a company is worth.
The Chinese are most likely thinking long term, so they are willing to pay up to twice what the company is worth.
This is a difference in culture for business.

The Japanese did the same thing in the '80's when they bought a bunch of bankrupt movie companies.
To the western way of doing business, this is not logical. But the Japanese think long term vs. short term, and over the past 35 years, the Japanese made a killing.
The US business men made a lot in the short term, but the long term investment of the Japanese paid off much better over time.

Bellator let Alvarez and Askren go because of $$$
Don't think they will buy the UFC...

You don’t understand how business works, do you?

Viacom "only" made 2 billion in total profits in 2015. Their total assets are worth 22 billion... so yeah 4 billion is a lot more than a "drop in the ocean".

The fighters will finally get paid. Arial Helwani will be hired! Stitch gets his job back. Dana and company will sail away into the night richer than they are already. Get rid of the stupid shoe company deal and bring back the NASCAR look of the fighters. My God there will be joy in the locker room.

Finally! Guys on the prelims making 7 figures. Conor and Ronda sponsored by Nike and Coca Cola etc. Co promotions.
