Last time he faught was 2011 where he got wrecked by JDS.

Sucks he looked so promising a couple years ago. People were calling him and Brock were suppose to be the new breed of HW but the actual new breed was smaller faster guys like JDS and Cain.

He could of been considered a GOAT HW if he entired MMA earlier.

I hate to say a guy should hang it up but the way he has been going with his health and injuries, he might really want to consider it.

Wait, is there even a chance of him fighting in 2013? I thought he tore his ACL and it is 9 months of rehab. Am I mistaken?

i wonder if it's a coincidence that as soon as he dropped significant amounts of mass he soon became very injury prone... kinda like barry bonds.

    food for thought.

We are not in a position to make that decision, only Shane Carwin can. If he was to retire, he would be more than okay since he is an engineer.

Carwin expected to be back around February/March but it turns out the recovery might take longer. But I do not think it is anything as serious as an ACL injury.

Also, he posted on twitter that he is auditioning for movies.

ROFL! This. Wish Shane would have been getting into the fight game earlier in his career. He's a great guy, has a lovely wife and beautiful family. He is a brilliant guy and has a full time engineering job, he doesn't need to fight, he does it on the side. I don't know how the hell he has a work/fight/life balance period. There is no reason for him to train full time, he's making very good consistent money with his job in Colorado. There is no shame for him retiring.

As a fight fan? God yes I want him to quit his job and train full time because he's one of my favorite fighters, but if he doesn't want to risk health/money/career for sake of his family, I completely understand.

As much as I love watching him fight I was always the first to say that he should retire. Numerous surgeries on his heck and back... Krazy!

I miss Paul Taylor, he hasn't fought since UFC 126, even longer ago than Carwin's last fight.

He's clearly not sufficiently good to be at the top anymore, but considering the income, he should do this as much as his health and desire permits him. I think he will likely get wrecked by whoever he fights next.

Damn dolce must be a magician. Helps a HW Carwin cut 30lb off an already lean body and even cuts 5 inches come the weigh in. :p

Seriously though dolce does seem legit with helping fighters perfect weight cutting, but in this case it makes you wonder why a HW would purposely cut 30 lb. Just sayin.
