If Reyes gets immediate rematch then that's literally the same as beating Jones

Discussion in 'UFC Discussion' started by Deleted member 572945, Feb 15, 2020.

  1. If the judges would have given Reyes the decision nod like the majority of fans, media, fightmetric, and expert analysts have, Reyes would still have to fight Jones again because of the dominant champion clause (I think in Jon's case, it's actually written into his contract).

Well... if Reyes gets the rematch he deserves because the majority of the MMA community thought that he won- we're basically getting the Jones/Reyes II situation that would have happened if the correct judging decision was made anyway.

If Dominic wins the rematch- we're not getting an immediate trilogy (Dana hates them) and a new champion reinvigorates the division.

If Jones wins the rematch- things resume to as they were, and it would be the same situation regardless if he didn't get the original judges nod or not.

Tough to put Reyes as a favorite in the rematch. Jones would come in with a solid game plan and wouldn't get caught off guard.

If Reyes could improve technically it might be possible. But I see Jon Winning a more dominate U decision.

Oh for fucks sake it was a close fight and he did not win. Enough of this controversy bullshit. I rewatched that fight five times and it was very very close. In no way was that a robbery. Not even close.

He was completely gassed out in the last two rounds. So what is he going to do? Likely try to pace himself and get behind on the scorecards. That’s my opinion.

Didn't read the post. But if you think that a loss is "literally" the same as a win, I don't know what the hell to tell you.

If they think that he lost they think he lost by a close margin. We are talking about one round. That’s it. Dominic was completely gassed out in the last two rounds and didn’t do much of anything.

Reyes doesn't need to improve technically. He pieced Jones up, and had him rocked and panic wrestling. He needs to dedicate a full camp to greatly improving his cardio and he has a great shot.

  11. You can win narrowly but yet at the same time clearly.

When the majority of media score cards, fan polls, expert-analysts, and actual data says that a certain fighter won- that fighter should have been the official winner.

exactly. Your post was nothing. Pointless.

80% of viewers had Reyes winning.

No you can’t. That’s not how it works. If it’s narrow by its very definition it is close. Sugar Ray Leonard once said about his fight with Marvin Hagler that

“There is a difference between controversial and close”

That is how I would define this fight..

Jones has finished everyone he's rematched
Reyes should live off this hype for a while and take some other fights
    Rematch Jones will kill it

You personally polled 80% of the viewers. Wow. That’s impressive.

I wouldn't get too excited here, this fight reminds me of Floyd / Maidana 1 for some reason with the style catching the Champ off guard but much like Maidana 2 now that Jon knows what too expect I see him making the adjustment and putting on a clinic just like Floyd did.

Who knows though, I could be wrong, lol.
