This is what is so interesting about this match-up. The possible scenarios afterwards. I know that if Pettis wins by a "sketchy" decision that there will more than likely be an automatic rematch with Aldo.

Butttt, let's just say that Pettis beats Aldo convincingly. Will they automatically set up some champion vs champion fight between Anthony Pettis and Ben Henderson? Or willy they make him defend the belt a few times? Even though the possibility of 1 fighter holding 2 belts at the same time is fucking mind blowing and would break all kinds of records, It would also be a huge headache for the UFC as far as matchmaking goes. Dana has made some crazy ass decisions in the past so i wouldnt put something like that past him, but do you guys think he would allow something like that to happen?.. that is IF Pettis beats Aldo.

I think Pettis has the ability to beat Aldo and Bendo convincingly.

Please, use thread finder. plenty of speculation available on this subject already. Dana has made some statements about this situation already.

Edit: only read the title, just skimmed through the post.

If Pettis beats Aldo convincingly, maybe Aldo would then fight who otherwise would be the #1 contender before rematching Pettis. In the meantime, they could make a matchup between him and Bendo, if he takes no damage in the Aldo fight. But imagine if Pettis wins that fight too? What would happen next? I don't know...

FW and LW are close enough where the elites can go back forth

You wake up from your dream.

But seriously, didn't Dana want Pettis to stay at FW and not just immediately get a shot at Benson.

If Pettis beats Aldo, then Gus will fight Jones later this year.

Pettis will have to stay at FW and defend until he loses.

I don't see any champion vs. champion fights being scheduled anytime soon, and ain't nobody going to vacate a belt.

As for Aldo...he could very well head to LW and start wrecking shit there. I think he'd do well, if not get the belt.

It's already stated that Pettis will need to defend the belt at 145. Aldo can move to 155 if he wants.

If Pettis wins he should just drop the 45 title, to come down and immediately beat the champ whose been runnin through 145 shows that division aint a challenge to him. Drop it and go get after Bendo again.

Then Brazil will only have one.champion left. Assuming Anderson doesn't get beat by weidman
