Now that Rousimar Palhares is a free agent, his top two options are Bellator & WSOF. Bellator is probably the more lucrative option and one that I think is the most likely to sign him.

    QUICK QUESTION:
If Palhares signs with Bellator, do you think he could take the title?

    LONG ANALYSIS:
Palhares went 8-4 in the UFC, with wins over some good names like Mike Pierce, Dan Miller, David Branch and Jeremy Horn. His losses were to respectable opposition in Hector Lombard, Alan Belcher, Nate Marquardt and Dan Henderson.

However, his career until late was spent at Light Heavyweight & Middleweight where he was fairly mediocre, but in his welterweight debut he quickly dispatched of top-15 WW Mike Pierce.

If he were to enter the next Bellator Welterweight tournament I think his chances of winning it would be quite likely, hell, he may even have what it takes the not only snatch a few legs, but a belt as well. Askren is a free-agent but if he were to stay in Bellator and fight Palhares I honestly think Palhares would prove to be a bad stylistic match-up for him. Neither man is really known for their stand-up but Askren would be wise to keep it there, at least for the first few rounds until Palhares gasses. If at any point it hit the canvas, Askren would have the positional advantage but he'd have to be incredibly weary of Palhares locking up a leg.

I would be thrilled if he tore War Machine's leg off.

If so, he will probably continue his antics and get suspended then cut.

They took Falcao and are marketing the hell out of War Machine.

they do love those questionable characters. Rampage, Rogers, War Machine, Falcao, Daley, Riddle, maybe Riddle isnt fair since he was only smoking pot.

But I dont think they care about who the fighter is cause they dont have anyone really looking at them like the uFC has with the Culinary union.

I mean has anyone heard a peep from the Union about Spike signing Rampage or putting him on their first PPV? Remember how awful Rampage is with the rape vids and criminal history and how they wanted Fox to take him off the card?

But he signs a huge TNA/Bellator deal and not a word gets said. Thats why they dont have to worry about any backlash about signing guys like that.

UFC doesnt cut Palhares the union uses that against them saying they tolerate fighters hurting others and not stopping etc, so they have to worry about PR backlash. Bellator doesnt. If they think a fighter makes business sense for them, can help them with ratings, ticket sales or just a legit fighter that can help their div be deeper they will sign him no matter what baggage the fighter has.

He wouldn't have to cut to 170, he would do just fine in their MW division.

If he goes to Bellator, I think he'd be a tournament winner at either 170 or 185.

Storm vs Harris would be great.

I'm really liking the idea of Palhares in Bellator. He could be an interesting player at either 185 170. Neither of those divisions has a lot of interesting characters and Palhares would inject that interest. I think they should sign him.

All of them but Daley were outside the ring, and wasnt Daley stuck fighting in BAMMA and KSW lvl events for a long time?...its not like Bellator took him right away.

I have a feeling we wont be seeing Mr Harris in any of the Top 3 for a while.

Bellator has a few former UFC bad decision makers so I won't be surprised if they sign him. I think it would be a bad decision though. Bellator is consistently putting on great shows, the last thing they need is someone giving them really bad press and slowing the promotion's momentum.

Hopefully they are smart enough not to sign him. He will probably break a leg or two before he would face a tough opponent. So what if they sign him and he doesn't let go in the first fight? Horrible press, they will have to cut him as well, overall a HUGE mistake they would have made.

I'd take Palhares over everyone in Bellator at WW or MW. However, you can't discount someone like Lima catching him and putting him out.

Who cares what happens to him? He got himself banned so he can have bragging rights that he's such a bad ass he was banned from MMA.
