If they finally decided to fight each other, at this present moment who would the book makers have as the favorite going into the fight?

Im thinking floyd but maybe someone else here knows better..

I think for sure Floyd would be the favorite just because of his speed and elusiveness. But if Pac tags him a la Mosely, Floyd is screwed!

I would think Floyd just because he is undefeated, but I don't know. People may still be hung up on Pac's most recent thrashing though.

I believe the projected odds currently are: Mayweather at -140; Pacquiao at +110. Seems pretty reasonable to me, but I personally would pick PBF at these odds. Pac has trouble against guys with good jabs (Cotto in the early rounds is a good example) and patient fighters with solid counter punching (Marquez)....... In short, that pretty much describes PBF and he does both exceptionally well. I like Manny, much more than Floyd, but in the ring Floyd takes him apart........ First, Floyd is by far the best defensive fighter Manny has faced and he will use his jab to hold Manny at range then force Manny to lunge into counters, eventually forcing Manny into a cat n mouse fight and PBF takes it on the cards or Manny gets over aggressive and KO'd, my opinion. I keep hearing the argument "Floyd does have some trouble against SP's (Corley, Judah, Mitchel)"....... But i think that is BS, Judah got him in a little trouble early then got his ass beat, Mitchel got KO'd in rd 6 and Corley gave him a hell of a fight, but still PBF outlanded him by a wide margin in power shots and landed at a connect rate of 43% or something like that. All were quick SP's with solid power and only Corley was really a close fight, but not really!

The other thing Floyd has going for him, He's not a Mexican boxing champion....... which apparently is a curse if your fighting Manny!

Pac looked good and fought a very good fight. Margarito looked like shit and tried to incorporate a completely different style of fighting then he had ever used before, and im not referring to loaded gloves (leave that to the conspiracy theorists). Margarito tried to stand in the middle of the ring and box Manny, Dumb! He new Manny was susceptible to a jab and he spent way to much time trying to find his without letting his right hand go and for some damn reason he abandoned his UC inside. Probably the most effective shot Margarito was throwing in that fight. Manny got him timed early and by the time Margarito finally decided to "dogfight" Manny and put pressure on him, Manny had him dialed in, slowed down (big body shots, straight left early, left hook in the mid-early rounds) and cut/swollen..... then it was just a clinic, De La Hoya all over again....... only Manny couldn't get Margarito out of there and he should of been able to.

Honestly, Floyd's thrashing of Mosely was far more impressive to me than was Manny's over Margarito.

last year when this fight was being talked about Floyd was the favorite. Today after Pacs last couple fights and Floyds inactivity, I would say Pac is the favorite.

I did a Google search and another internet forum said that, "At Station Casinos in Las Vegas, Pacquiao opened as an 8 to 5 favorite to defeat Mayweather."

so you are saying pacman, who couldn't finish marg, has more power than mosley, who could finish marg?

no, what he is trying to say is that mayweather who couldn't finish dlh was finished by pacman and made cotto look silly who beat mosely.

Dude if Pac rocks Floyd he's not gonna stop like Mosley did which was quite odd. Floyd's clinching is not gonna work.

And Pac is not only southpaw but fast so I'm willing to bet at some point he will catch Floyd or stun him.

Floyd's chin is not bad, but it's also not good IMO

Huh, Mosely didn't stop, in fact he did the opposite.... he started chasing the KO and stopped boxing. Every time he got into his corner Nassim Richardson was telling him to stop looking for a big shot and just put gloves on him..... Shane got over aggressive and stopped boxing, played right into Floyd's game and got pieced apart.

Pac may be a fast SP, so were Corley and Judah....... and we know how that ended. Pac is fast, but so is Floyd and I don't think Pac is that much faster than Judah as far as SP's go and Marquez and Mosely are far from "slow", speed aint the answer..... Floyd is just as fast as Manny, different application in how they use that speed, but nonetheless, Manny wont have a significant speed advantage..... one he has been accustomed to having in last several fights.

Curious, what gives you the opinion that Floyd's chin is suspect? He has fought and taken big shots from a list of notable KO punchers and not seen the canvas..... He went down to a knee against Hernandez when he broke his hand on his forehead..... arguably Zab did knock him down, it was never ruled a KD though. Closest i have seen him come to getting KD is against Corley who did rock him pretty good and Mosely who hit him with a shot that would of and has finished many a fighter, but Floyd managed to stay up....... Chin, not so suspect if ya ask me. Manny on the other hand, seen the canvas several times.

Not comparable, different styles, different fighters and different weight classes. Remember that DLH fought Manny at the end of his career and at a weight that was well under his "ideal" fight weight. Matter of fact, Manny actually outweighed DLH on fight night. Floyd fought DLH when he was still a more active fighter (not his prime, but close) and at a weight he was comfortable making at the time, Floyd was also the smaller fighter in that fight.

If ya make that argument, what about PBF's dismantling of Marquez, who gave Manny 2 of the toughest bouts of his career........ Floyd tooled him, bad!

I'm not sure. I would guess Pacquiao only because he's fought more recently. Both guys absolutely dominate their opponents, but in different ways. So this thing should be just about even.

Judging by recent competition I give pacman the edge :icon_lol: no really though I think pac would by a very very slight betting favorite because of recent and semi recent accomplishments and floyd when not swinging his dangerous finger around has been sitting on his hands for the most part.

i was being facetious.

the educated would put it on mayweather, the general public would throw it all on pacman.

I agree with this. And I would put it on Mayweather, but Pac would wind up winning. :icon_lol:

Agreed.... The bookies are loving this fight. Manny, is probably one of the, if not the most likable fighter in the world. He is well respected, a great role model for the sport and deserves the admiration, he has earned it. The masses will bet on Manny because they really want him to win, despite him only being a very slight underdog on the books (im assuming).

Floyd on the other hand is a loud mouth, arrogant, trash talking punk.... who refers to himself in the 3rd person far more that anyone ever should, it makes me wanna slap the taste out his mouth....... Unfortunately, this is not a campaign for public office or a popularity contest, which Manny wins by a landslide..... it is a boxing match, and Floyd, as much as I hate to say it, is a better fighter and will in all likelihood take Manny apart in the ring. Not saying it is the way I or most would like to see it happen, quite the opposite, but Floyd even as much of a ass as the guy is..... is a genius in the ring and there is really not another fighter in boxing with the kinda gift PBF has in that ring, he is an anomaly and without a doubt the best fighter in the world, as his record indicates. Manny is the superior man, Floyd is the superior fighter.
