If ONE does fold... Where will the MT/KB roster go to?

The Muay Thai fighters, mostly being Thai people, would just go back to competing in the countless other Muay Thai shows around them. RWS would likely absorb some, others would go back to the stadium circuit, others may go to another small glove Muay Thai promotion. International fighters would either stay in Thailand and keep fighting, hope for opportunities in their home country and fight there, or compete in Kickboxing / another combat sport.

Their Kickboxing roster is much smaller and much less active, so they would be the least affected. Smaller guys would go to K-1, RISE, or maybe Wu Lin Feng, bigger guys would likely go to GLORY or just switch to MMA or Muay Thai.

Kickboxing would likely be better off for it, since they have a long history of signing Kickboxers and then rarely giving them matchups. Muay Thai would definitely be changed though -- the popularity of small glove Muay Thai with mainstream audiences is now very evident and in the event of ONE failing, there would be an opportunity for another company to capitalize on it.

As critical as I am of ONE, I don't want them to fail. I want them to succeed, it's just very frustrating when they have so much going for them but shoot themselves in the foot at almost every opportunity. We'll see what happens

They have some absolute bangers on their Muay Thai* shows.

"Looking for thay 50,000dollar contract".

I wish they'd fail their MMA and KB and water down to MT only.

Just disperse among the many other orgs. There really isn't any or that would take in the majority of them I think. There isn't really another "ONE" in Muay Thai.

KB, they'd probably just go to Rise or K1. A couple MT guys probably go to Japan too.

Fighter now in One saying K-1 did not pay for fights and is ripping off fighters.

So he is hoping no one goes there.

Takeru claims that K-1 fighters are not adequately compensated for their fights, even when participating in multiple matches in a single day they only pay for one fight. He also highlighted that fighters are responsible for their own medical expenses, even in cases of serious injuries requiring hospitalization or surgery.

Furthermore, Takeru mentioned that K-1 fighters are locked into contracts that automatically renew, and exiting the contract during its term results in significant penalty fees.

This has been reported about K-1 for a long time. I remember this being one of the roadblocks to setting up Takeru vs Tenshin before they decided to just co-promote an event to make it happen. Carlos Kikuta seems to still be riding on the name of the old K-1 and thinking they're the biggest promotion around; if I remember correctly, Kikuta and Chatri had a falling out about K-1 lending fighters for a ONE card in Japan and Kikuta proposed an exchange. Both of their egos got in the way of that, though.

Moved completely to Thailand and meeting Thai boxing regs in gloves to get approval. Will appease Thai and maybe get government help?

For a long time they have held on.

All of this is a classic in Kickboxing for decades. Sounds to me that the only healthy and fast growing international promotion across all combat sports with regular cards is the UFC...

My favourite switch-a-roo is when they give out bonus' - some bonus' are 50,000 usd, while others are 300,000B which translates to like 10, 000usd or so. LOL

Regardless of how I feel about Chatri, One going under would be devastating. Watching OFF while I work on Friday mornings is like the highlight of my work week lol.

yeah as is probably obvious as I am likely the forum no1 OFF fangirl, if not the world no1, I would be totally devastated if One went down, I think something inside me would die and I could turn away from combat sports completely. I would fervently hope someone took the exact same, brilliant idea of a weekly 3rd, small gloves, bonus-incentivised Muay Thai format and ran with the ball. Tho, I am guessing that would be very unlikely.

As much as a lot of purists criticize One Friday Fight nights as not real Muay Thai, it would really suck if that went down and we'd have to go back to stadium Muay Thai full time again.

I like all forms of Muay Thai and I think One brigs something different to stadium Muay Thai.

Also Stadium Muay Thai can get repetitive rather quickly especially because it's mostly just smaller weight classes, no promotional contents or commentary in English and not featured on international channels, it's all in Thai and on Thai channels, and also the pace of the fights can get quite repetitive as they follow that one scoring system with gambling history. Some more international promotions like RWS are quite exciting in comparison though.

Ironically if One did fold, i'd hardly miss the One Fight Night or numbered One events at all, other than occasional top matchups. They don't have the alchemy of the OFF matchmaking along with that desperate desire of fighters to make a name for themselves that produces so many great fights in OFF.

thats pretty transparent though? the 50K USD bonuses are for the OFN/ One numbered shows and the 350k baht/10k USD bonuses are for the OFF cards. which is just as well for Chatri because the ratio of bonus-worthy fights is far higher on OFF cards for the reasons I gave above.

Frankly I feel that if TKO wants to be the home of Combat Sports they should get a MT, KB and bare knuckle added. They got boxing & BJJ as Dana claims to love those sports but says he has no interest in MT/KB. So they need someone like Chatri no matter how caustic he is.

I see UFC announced they will start holding events in Qatar. Sorry Chatri....

The numbered events have had really top level fights between legends of the sport though. I would definitely miss all those fights with Superlek, Rodtang, Haggerty, Nabil, Tawanchai, Superbon, Carrillo, etc. It would be a real loss not to have those anymore.

And they hand out those bonusses pretty much for all finishes and impressive performances, while even the UFC doesn't do that.
