I feel like vicious beatdown like Nogeuira received could have permanent effect on fighter eventually down the road, especially when someone sort of has a huge heart and dont mind getting hit to hit back...

Nogueira was a good looking guy but I think his face is one of the most changed face in the history of MMA as well..and he really didnt seem to have aged well inside the ring or the cage...

Biggest what if for Nog is....what if Fedor never existed....

Then he beat Crocop....Sylvia...Couture....the best heavyweight there was...and probably didnt suffer possibly from that beatdown...

The Nog brothers in reality were just tough. Nothing too special but better on the ground than most for the time. Eventually their boxing got decent but they got dominated until they won a few too many times.

fighting is the last thing you want to do if you're looking to retain your looks. we as fans shouldn't have an interest in what a fighter looks like from fighting. fighting is inherently dangerous and bad for your health. one big reason why i couldn't care less what someone like gsp, as an example, has to say when it comes to approaching fighting. he fought to avoid fighting. what do i as a fan gain from that? not a thing.

as to nog, yeah i think it's fair to conclude that he'd be considered the goat, or one of, if fedor wasn't around. the same thing with dc and jones.

HW GOAT and easily top 5 P4P alltime with a case for GOAT

minus Fedor, up until the Sylvia fight his record wouldve been 31-2-1. One loss to Hendo which is considered a robbery by most and he finished him in the hematch. The other was the GOAT HW fight with Barnett and he beat him in the hematch too. Nog wouldve had a couple more fights in that span to heplace the Fedor not existing narrative. But the only one who couldve beaten him was Mirko.

He wouldve been the consensus HW GOAT by far, PRIDE and UFC HW champ
