I know many of you call him McGoat already, and that win over Aldo was really impressive, but i feel Mcgregor still got work to do before being called one of the Goats... Of course, he beating this version of RDA, that has a super camp behind him (Cordeiro, Machida, Curson, Dariush etc) and that was only decisioned by Khabib(a totally different fighter from Conor), would prove me that the Irishman is really something special. McGregor has a great record, hes a great finisher and fighter. And, if he catches that third belt down the line, it would be only the icing on the cake!

Title defenses and longevity (whether it be years or fights) propel someone to GOAT status.

He still would have to get some legitimate title defenses first for me to consider him in the GOAT discussion.

Please stop with the GOAT threads. There is no such thing. Endless debate.

And let's be honest, Conor can win for a decade straight. The moment he loses, you'll be the same person claiming that he fought cans and was overrated.

stop the presses, this guy has something original to say! I don't know why you wasted this gem on a sherdog thread. Coulda been a best-selling novel, movie, netflix show, or something. but thank you for this iota of genius.

no, he is not.
He has yet to defend a belt.
He has not fought any wrestler (in full camp).
Running and fighting only fighters that suits his style doesn't make him GOAT.
Makes him a person who obviously know what's best for his career, especially with such sheeps following. They are too gullible and believe in the hype, same they did for Ronda for as long as she was winning.

Beating all styles and staying on top for YEARS is what makes you GOAT.

I think winning two belts at the same time put you there as well.

Also, being undefeated in the UFC.

Did it put Dan Henderson there for winning two belts in Pride? I don't think you can become a GOAT contender based on 2 fights, even if they are in different weight divisions. Anderson won 16 consecutive and had 12 consecutive title defenses, Fedor was on top undefeated for 10 years, GSP went 25-2, avenged both losses, and left as champion, and even Bones was the youngest champ in history, beat 5 former champs consecutively, and is 9-0 on title fights.

Saying McGregor is in that company based on 2 fights seems absurd.

How many threads start with "if Conor wins" or "if RDA wins" how many were there for the Aldo fight. Please come up with a more creative interesting "if" being answered in the scenario.

Who is he running from? Frankie Edgar? You honestly think taking on the CHAMP of a weight class higher than you is easier than fighting Frankie Edgar who was banished from LW and loses all of his championship fights? If he were fighting Donald I would say he was running from Frankie, but RDA c'mon dude

I think the main problem with putting Conor at Goat status is that even if he beats RDA he still would not be considered the Goat of any weight class. Aldo would still be ahead of him a FW and many others at LW.

Fedor Jones Anderson and GSP are clearly the goats of their weight class as well as potentially the greatest of all time.

If he finishes RDA and then finishes his next opponent I'd have to seriously consider it. What he done in such a short time is insane and he's done it more impressively than anyone else since Anderson.

he needs to finish rda and Werdum imo.
