After rewatching Aldo vs Mendes II at the end of R1, Aldo's punches were more egregious than Lombard's. If you watch Lombard's hips, he begins to throw the combo less than 0.2 seconds after the bell sounds, which is the limit for what is accepted in formula 1 driver's starting reaction times. Like Aldo, he threw a two punch combination, both punches decided on before he threw the first. This is the essence of a combination.
The average time it takes for a driver to hit the brake in an emergency is 1 second. Within 1 second of the bell sounding, Lombard's combination was finished and Dolloway was falling to the ground.
Lastly, there was no real examination of Aldo's mistake. He and Dana just said it was loud in there and they didn't hear the bell. If it's been done before worse and nothing was done or said about it, why should Lombard be punished?
Lastly, as a sidenote. Dolloway originally kept repeating that he heard the Ref say time before he was hit. It was only after it dawned on him that he could win a DQ that he changed his story to 'What happened?'
