If Koscheck loses do you think he'll be cut?

I think he'll retire. He hasn't looked the same of late and I think he knows it.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. Kos is no longer needed in a crowded and stacked division with rising contenders. If the UFC wants to cut costs, Kos's embarassing loss will be a perfect opportunity to do so. Demian Maia could become official UFC hatchet man.

Fitch has a long history of not being a fan fav. actually, a long history of something even worse than not a fan fav; easily ignorable. right or wrong (another topic for another thread) that will get you cut eventually. and that is not true with Kos; love him or hate him, most don't ignore him. casuals know who he is, and have an emotional tie into him winning or losing; Fitch, not so much.

so i doubt he'll ever be cut. he may retire soon though.

Don't count Kos out, he could still Ko Maia.

Highly possible if he does lose though, money talks.

Isn't Koscheck in the Top 5 all-time with UFC fights and/or wins? For all his shenanigans, he seems like a company man, capable of hyping up a fight, and while he is expensive, I don't think he'll be cut.

First off this is some of the worst matchmaking I have seen the UFC do which says a lot.

It's as if they had were in their TUF noob mindset (or Joe Silva was rather) and thought that Demian Maia just beat some guy who just got released and two other "cans" while Koscheck never lost to Lawler.

That's exactly what it seems like.

If Koscheck loses I don't think he deserves to be cut as Maia looks like the best at 170 behind GSP (no one has dominated Jon Fitch the way he did a few months ago).

If UFC's end goal was to give Koscheck this fight so they can release him, then maybe that. But I highly doubt it, I will go with the option that they were being stupid by making this fight.

I don't think Kos would retire yet and I am sure they would not cut him
he is TUF royalty,

Resons to like this matchup:
Kos may not have "good boxing" but he can fuck some mofo's up standing. and Maia does not have "world class kickboxing".
wrestler v bjj.
Maia v AKA.
old v new (or, guy on the downside of his career v guy on the upside of his WW career).
top 10 v top 10.

in other words there's a lot of reasons to like it. i can only think of 1 reason not to like it: if you're a Kos fan an think he'll get outgrappled easily.

Maia has to fight someone, right? if not Kos, who? Kampmann??? same complaints.

If he does get cut Id like to see Daley vs Kos 2 in Cage Warriors. Who Daley has pretty much signed for today.

I think Kos is pretty close to Rich Franklin territory with the UFC. He should be safe for a while.

Pretty sure Kos left AKA, though I could be wrong. Honestly I see Maia winning on the feet or on the ground, no whether he can get Kos to the ground or not is a different story.

ur right he did.

i see Maia winning too. but Kos isn't a hack, is my point. he's tough everywhere. it wasn't too long ago he fought the #1 contender to a virtual tie...

I think they are trying to cut him by setting him up with Maia

Maia suck just a blanket against fitch ..hope Kos knock him the fuhk out.

No, Koscheck won't be cut if he losses. He's too big of a name to cut, and Dana doesn't want a big name to go to Bellator.

This is the worst matchmaking this year, hands down. Even worse than the Condit/Hendricks match. No matter what happens, nothing "huge" happens. You have a guy who should be a top 5 talent (Maia) fighting someone near the cutting board. That's stupid.

He's too popular to be cut. The UFC likes its villains, and Koscheck enjoys the role. That said, he's annoying and I hope Maia taps him like a keg.

No but he will lose

Bad fight for Kos and even worse bad match making

I Kos does get cut it will be because of the money he makes
