will he have the best 2 back to back wins in the sport over 2 GOAT contenders of the LW division in their primes (even though Tony claimed he hasn't hit his prime yet, lol)?

No, because neither Tony or Beeb are GOAT. Tony had to smash beeb and vice versa. Beeb gets GOAT status if he gives Justin full smesh and beats him.

So beating a guy on a 12-0 win streak and considered arguably 1 of the 2 GOAT's of LW and then beating a guy with a 28-0 record who is arguably already seen as the LW GOAT in their primes won't be the best back to back wins the sport has ever seen?

*....snip*

Sorry my bad, I missed the use of the word "contender" in your initial post, I was just pointing out that neither Tony/Beeb are at GOAT level status yet because the supposed clash between them would have swung it one way or another.

In a position where both resumes are pretty much equal the GOAT in my opinion is considered the guy who did it losing less rounds, taking less damage. Khabib beating Justin in ANY way will solidify him as the GOAT and take him ahead of Tony no arguments needed.

I agree completely, if Khabib beats Justin he's the LW GOAT.

Question if Khabib lost would you expect him to get an instant rematch? we've seen it happen with very dominant champs in the past and just wondered what you thought?

Depends on how he loses, it has to be competitive and close in my opinion and what Justin values more, the immediate money fight with Conrat or doing Ali a favour by giving an instant rematch to his favourite client Khabib and if Justin values Khabib's integrity by giving him an immediate rematch (Khabib's integrity being him facing the rightful deserving number 1 contenders over the lucrative Conrat rematch).

Don't forget MM didn't get a rematch in a VERY close fight with Cejudo after defending the title at least 10 times although MM wasn't a star that was very fucked up.

Not doing MMA math at all but it's a nice little fun fact that Khabib beat both guys with relative ease who beat both Tony (MJ) and Justin (Poirer).

I simply cannot agree that Tony would have been the GOAT by beating Khabib. Not when the LW record is 3, or 4 consecutive title defences.

Khabib on the other hand will become the LW GOAT if he beats either Tony or Justin next.

There is way too much... This guy just won the title, he is the GOAT nonsense around here imo. GOATs defend titles many times to even enter the conversation. That’s how I see it, and nothing is ever changing my mind.

For instance... Tony was on a 12 fight winning streak. Well, against whom? No legit undisputed title wins. GSP is on a 12 title fight winning streak. The last 11 were for the real title. Only the first was for an interim belt. See the difference?

Yes.

What are title defenses? They're fights. What's more impressive, winning a title defense over a contender who isn't that good (e.g. Dillashaw vs Soto) or simply beating many of the best lightweights to ever do it like Tony has?

Khabib is a very dominant fighter, but I think a lot of people forget that he's only defended the belt twice. It's not like he's defended the belt a dozen times. He won the title by fighting a borderline top 10 LW for a vacant belt. His first defense was a gifted title shot to the biggest name in the sport who hadn't won a fight in three years.

Don't fall for the title defences BS narrative. Number of title defences depends on how fortunate you were to win the title early on in your career which itself is dependent on a number of things thus amassing a nice number of defences. Tony never got to fight for the real belt in 13 fights and I believe Khabib won the title at around 9 or 10 fights as opposed to GSP and Jones who got title shots much earlier in their UFC careers thus amassing their title defences making it look like a nice accomplishment. Look at Kamaru as a good example he pretty much cleaned out his division of top contenders before even winning the belt.

Justin comin' for that belt, how is Khabib gonna deal with this explosiveness?
