Segregation and everything else that came with Jim Crow wouldn't have ended with Jackie Robinson, Ali, and so on. That is according to Martin Luther King, Noam Chomsky and anyone else worth listening too on the subject.

For Ali, his stance against Vietnam (before standing against it was popular) was one part of the many pieces that needed to come together to end that war. Much like baseball helped end slavery; masters played games against their slaves, occasionally fair games, and after each one it became harder and harder to deny a slaves basic humanity in public.
