I love how upset the Jones haters are.
most heavyweights are fighting at 265
He can beat up on guys whom he has a 10 inch reach advantage for the rest of his career and never lose. He will never be a GOAT until he goes up and fights heavyweights. He has the same reach as Stefan Struve for fuck sakes.
I don't know if you know this but the guy he just beat was undefeated at HW, ranked #2 before moving down, never lost a round or was taken down at HW. He has a few tpop-5ish HW wins and he's also Cain's wrestling coach. According to everyone on his/Cain's team Cormeir and Cain are about even in sparring at the gym.
Doesn't pretty much every fighter except for some of the heavyweights cut weight?
Cormier cut down which probably sacrificed a lot of his power and strength. It would have been much more impressive if Jones had beaten him at their natural weights. And if they're on the same level then Jones should be able to go up in weight and beat him.
If Jones wins his next fight, and Cain does as well there's really nothing left for them at their respective weight classes. It makes sense for Jones to move up and give the fans the fight we want to see.
Actually no they're not. Most of them fight at the 240-250 range.
Actually he's on record saying he ate a lot of popeyes chicken when at HW. He said he changed & cleaned up his diet. So he's a healthier athlete now, obviously. Are you saying he was in better shape with is gut as a 5'9' short armed fried chicken eating HW? That doesn't make sense to me.
Ok and Jones walk around weight is 10-20 pounds under that Jones is tall and lanky but he's not a big guy, what do you think the natural weight is for most heavyweights? Cain is a smaller heavyweight which is why Jon Jones would have no issues fighting him.
And really let's call it like it is this isn't about wanting to see Jones fight at HW this is about wanting to see him lose. if he beats Cain then people will want him to drop to MW just anything to see him lose. If height and reach were the only factors that mattered then Stefan Struve would be undefeated, Mike Tyson wouldn't have dominated in the 80s, Ali would have gotten destroyed by Foreman, Big Nog would have lost Bob Sapp and Fedor and Cro Cop would have lost to Hong Man Choi.
Opponents are going to have to strategize and overcome it that's why they have coaches and camps.
