If Jones is so great, why does he need every physical advantage?

he doesn't cut a lot of weight to make 205 ... watch the post fight conference he said he has to eat more! too make 205 ... he's just naturally skinny ... he doesn't have to move up in weight just because the haters want him too

Gus already proved your point TS, yeah the height and reach advantage Jon has over most guys helps him a lot.

Because his physical advantages is what makes him one of the greats. It's not like the guys cheating or anything, he is just blessed.

"If Jones is so great why is he so tall?"
That's like saying if Magic Johnson was so great why was he 6'9" playing PG?
"If Matt Hughesw was so great why didn't he move up to middleweights instead of facing lightweights"
"How Wilt Chamberlain had was height he wasn't that good."
"Why did Shaq have to weigh 300 lbs. to play center why not drop weight, it's unfair."

Jon Jones walks around at 220-230, most heavyweights are fighting at 265 which means they're dropping from 285-290. Johnny Hendricks walks around at 220 no one claims he should move up to light heavyweight. Anthony Johnson was a light heavyweight fighting at Welterweight for years, people only suggested that he starts fighting middleweight or light heavyweight because he wasn't making weight on a consistent basis not because it was "unfair" Roy Nelson could make light heavyweight but he likes using his big ass belly as an advantage. Guess what? Life's not fair.

He can beat up on guys whom he has a 10 inch reach advantage for the rest of his career and never lose. He will never be a GOAT until he goes up and fights heavyweights. He has the same reach as Stefan Struve for fuck sakes.

I don't know if you know this but the guy he just beat was undefeated at HW, ranked #2 before moving down, never lost a round or was taken down at HW. He has a few tpop-5ish HW wins and he's also Cain's wrestling coach. According to everyone on his/Cain's team Cormeir and Cain are about even in sparring at the gym.

Doesn't pretty much every fighter except for some of the heavyweights cut weight?

Cormier cut down which probably sacrificed a lot of his power and strength. It would have been much more impressive if Jones had beaten him at their natural weights. And if they're on the same level then Jones should be able to go up in weight and beat him.

If Jones wins his next fight, and Cain does as well there's really nothing left for them at their respective weight classes. It makes sense for Jones to move up and give the fans the fight we want to see.

Jones should have to fight on his knees and only be able to use his elbows, fair is fair.

Actually he's on record saying he ate a lot of popeyes chicken when at HW. He said he changed & cleaned up his diet. So he's a healthier athlete now, obviously. Are you saying he was in better shape with is gut as a 5'9' short armed fried chicken eating HW? That doesn't make sense to me.

Actually no they're not. Most of them fight at the 240-250 range.

Ok and Jones walk around weight is 10-20 pounds under that Jones is tall and lanky but he's not a big guy, what do you think the natural weight is for most heavyweights? Cain is a smaller heavyweight which is why Jon Jones would have no issues fighting him.

And really let's call it like it is this isn't about wanting to see Jones fight at HW this is about wanting to see him lose. if he beats Cain then people will want him to drop to MW just anything to see him lose. If height and reach were the only factors that mattered then Stefan Struve would be undefeated, Mike Tyson wouldn't have dominated in the 80s, Ali would have gotten destroyed by Foreman, Big Nog would have lost Bob Sapp and Fedor and Cro Cop would have lost to Hong Man Choi.

Opponents are going to have to strategize and overcome it that's why they have coaches and camps.

No I'm saying exactly what I said in the previous post. He sacrificed some strength and power by dropping down to 205.

Overeem had a similar body type that Jones has and went up to Heavyweight. Jones could easily put on some muscle and go up to around 240 pounds.

The natural weight for most heavyweights is what they fight and weigh in at. Most do not cut weight and don't have to worry about that. If guys like Cain can fight at Heavyweight there's no reason he can't. He is physically stronger than he looks and has manhandled a lot of guys at 205. And Jones is not a big guy? Wow. His reach is the same as Struve, who is the tallest fighter in the UFC. He's definitely a very big, large man.

There are no compelling match-ups at 205 anymore. Besides Gustaffson. Sorry, but watching a guy with an 84 inch reach beating up on guys who dwarf him is not really interesting to me. I have respect for guys like Evans, Fedor, Couture, Penn, Edgar who consistently fought opponents who were much larger, stronger, and taller than them. They didn't try to protect their records, they fought the best fighters in the world win or lose.

No one wants to see Jones go to Middleweight, get real. His size definitely plays a big role in him winning, the one time he fought a guy in similar size (who still had less reach over him) was Gustaffson and he was beaten up pretty badly. To state or imply that his reach and height does not help him is wrong.

Jones retains the lhw crown and crushes thousands of DC fans souls

So because he isn't fighting someone 30 lbs heavier than him, his talent is in question?

Do you mind if I use your brain to make a really thick and dense pound cake later tonight?
