I was thinking the same thing. Both guys have strong cases in terms of who's next fot Jon, why not a eliminator match up between the two if Jones is going to be out for a while.

Well if Jones is gonna be out for 6 months or more then it makes total sense for this fight to happen.

The only negative is right now there are 2 viable contenders to Jones. This fight will bring it down to 1 for a while at least.

why would we have an eliminator between a guy who just lost to jones and a guy on a phenomenal win streak?

let jones heal and have either glover or gus fight jones when he's ready.

It was a controversal decision to the point where Dana is open to the idea of setting up a rematch over the Jones/Glover fight.

Jones vs. Gus was amazingly successful. It's the success a company dreams of.

You do not want to fuck that up. (by Gus losing to Texeira). Let Jones do what he has to do to heal - put Gus on the shelf until then.

Give Gus a gimme fight in Sweden. Let him bask in the glory of his home country. He won't lose to anybody not named Jones in his next fight. Do Glover vs. Jones next. Honestly even if Glover wins somehow it's not that bad. Gus either fights Glover for the title and likely wins setting up the rematch down the line with a prolonged story, or fights Jones for the right to fight Glover. More likely is they both win and then the rematch happens anyway. The most unlikely scenario, they both lose. Then they fight again anyway.
