If Jon Jones retires undefeated...

His legacy will be forever tainted by PEDs.

The only way he salvages his legacy is if he pre-paid VADA to test him for the next 5 years AND authorized them to publicize all of his test results immediately, before contacting him. If he made a move like that with 100% transparency, and we got to see every single test result immediately before he might even see them, I might start to give him some credit.

However, that's never going to happen.

Not counting his DQ loss, Jones is basically undefeated. If he were to retire tomorrow, what would his legacy be like?
If he retired today, he would have a Barry Bonds type of legacy. He's obviously the best fighter the sport has seen thus far, but it will always be clouded by controversy.

Add to this that more great fighters will eventually do what he has done. Khabib is about 3-4 title defenses from arguably being considered the best the sport has seen, and there will be more fighter's like him as time goes on.

Best fighter ever but he didn’t challenge himself if he doesn’t move up

I could honestly see his records & fight wins being deleted, similar to Lance Armstrong.

Right now this only happens in "amateur" sports -- not professional sports like the MLB, NHL, NFL, etc. However, I do believe that as society progresses, there is less and less tolerance for PED use in sports.

Once MMA matures and Dana White dies from orange-spray-tan poisoning, more progressive minds will "take over" the sport. Eventually guys like Jones will have their records erased for PED use.

One of the best. Because of all the controversies he needs to do more. The next 2-3 years are the most critical for Jones and his legacy..

He'll lose again....they all do. Invincibility seem assured for Prime Fedor, Anderson, and the like during their runs....and all fell. Bones will as well, his resume is already ridiculous (albeit flawed by many transgressions), but his fall from grace will come as well. And if hes as prideful fighter as the other greats, hell keep fighting well past his sell by date, thus diminishing his legacy

GOAT. Loss for beating a man up too savagely, and a NC (even though it was a nasty KO win)

His drug tests aside.... bc anyone that was a Pride fan, it's about 90% certain their favorite fighter was juiced.

To quote Nate Diaz "everybody's on steroids"

He should be 24-0 and beat Silva's undefeated streak but he's the GOAT anyway

All the GOAT candidates have asterisks against their names. Just depends on your nuthugging which way you swing.

Fedor *padded record of Pride cans/never fought in UFC
Jones *PEDs
Silva *PEDs
GSP *Low finish rate/fought safe
DC *Lost to Jones twice
Mighty Mouse *He is a Flyweight
Houston Alexander *Was for real for a very short time, needed longer
