If Ilia had a humble attitude would he have more fans?

In my view he's one of the most dynamic fighters right now, he's super well rounded with elite striking and very good grappling, like a FW GSP. Yet, I feel like he's one of the most hated on fighters, is it literally only due to his cocky/arrogant attitude? Isn't that attitude what made Conor a star?

I like his arrogant attitude… he’s good and he knows it. Bros worked to be where he’s at. Guys like Usman have raved about his talent and work ethic.

He’s gaining a following in the US too. It’s only a few sensitive Sherdoggers who dislike him.

Looks like a killer in the octagon. Don't follow him once he steps out. Am a fan.

Not liking someone who acts like an arrogant, condescending douche makes someone "sensitive"?

...sure thing sherbro

Its not exactly being humble, the man is annoying, you can be humble and have no fans too.

Nothing to do with attitude or skills and everything to do with the fact that he was simply rushed into the title picture as there was no one else to fight Volk. Him vs Volk, maybe vs Bryce, were most people’s introduction. Don’t pretend anybody actually saw him vs Emmett or care after Emmett didn’t get a KO.

People simply haven’t seen enough of him, on the big screen, to care.

It’s the fight game not a personality contest, skills and performance should should be the reason you’re watching these guys.

Topuria is incredibly skilled and always delivers good performances.

He has plenty of fans. Even fans who think he is some grappling god who can easily take max down and maul him somehow.

Maybe more liked by more people, but what's that gonna do for him? Lol.. Does being loved by sherdorks gonna put money in his pockets?

Most of the biggest stars the fight game ( boxing/MMA) are and have been polarizing..

He kinda suffers a bit from what islam did, he’s fighting universally beloved figures. Volk and now Max. You’ll always get hate if those are your opps. Islam is a good dude and isn’t even arrogant yet he was/is despised because he beat Oliveira, Volk and Dustin,…among other reasons.

Yes.
Attitude didn't make McGregor a star, him being entertaining did. Ilia has negative charisma. I knew this from the first time he did the rose thing.

He's cocky without the ability to be entertaining. That's what separates him and Conor. Ilia trash talks and calls out Mcgregor every other week, but he doesn't have an ounce of the charisma that made Mcgregor a star.

Conor was cocky but he was genuinely funny and spewed quotable one-liners then backed it up in the cage. Topuria can do amazing things in a fight, but he just comes across as a big-headed douchebag in interviews. No humbleness or respect, just cockiness.

Yep, the more he wins, the more he headlines cards, the more his popularity grows and he will gain fans even if he is an asshole
