... what's his path back to a title shot? Something along the lines of a relatively "easy" fight and then Condit or Rory? Will he need more than two big wins to get back in the hunt?

Or, to state it a bit differently: Does he need a "marquee" fight to get into that title shot, maybe a win over someone like Diaz just for the PPV number?

He just needs to knock someone right out, like his last fight, to re-distill that unknown in people's minds. Can he knock out GSP with his power? We'll find out. I mean, what did Chael do to get a belt fight? Cannot see why he wouldn't get a shot, eventually, unless he goes on a Melvin Guillard streak.

It wouldn't surprise me if they just went the Mendes route with him.

Hendricks vs. Duane Ludwig and then Dan Hardy.

If Hendricks loses...

... he'll get the immediate title shot. That seems to be how things work these days.

(joking aside, if he loses I'm sure he's right back in the hunt with one dominant win)

If he loses, then he gets the title shot.

Really depends on how his fight goes down. Boring fight will hurt him win or lose. Those 2 big KO's are what has everyone talking so a bad win could be worse than a spectacular back and forth loss.

It would be very unfortunate for him.
If he doesn't who goes next?
Rory is too early if he beats Condit, and Condit needs a bit of time to work out if he has anything for GSP

Of course "if" Diaz beats GSP (unlikely, but possible) it changes everything... including an immediate GSP rematch

Hopefully he doesn't lose and this is going to be his toughest fight yet. I only say that because it's hard to get motivated for a guy you didn't really plan on fighting and have no interest in fighting him and whom isnt really close to a title shot.

It's weird that I don't like Ellenberger yet I want him to beat Johny.

I think my Fitch nuthuggery permanently ruined Hendricks for me.

if he loses i would be upset for days!!! yeh i think one more big win would put him back on track to fight for the belt because there are not many challengers for gsp he has cleared most of the division

Oh, I'm sure that'd be an immediate rematch. You've already got the PPV king, and then you put him in a *rematch*?
