He would be at a 9 inch reach disadvantage. Cormier was at a 12 inch reach disadvantage
not in here
well yes, thats how Jones wins alot of his fights, his physical advantages
That reach advantage really helped Jones take DC down.
Yep, i recall high school wrestling. After weigh ins they would measure our reach. They had to make sure that the reach was even because that would allow me to outwrestle my opponent.
In a way it does since it forced Cormier to get in close instead of throwing bombs from the outside. But Cormier likes to get in close anyway so it wasn't really a big deal.
Cormier did look tiny compared to Jones though, made me really wish that Gus never got injured in the first place.
And a 100lb weight disadvantage.
DC was way smaller then I figured, how the fuck did he destroy bigfoot!?
Weight classes exist fo a reason. I mean if Floyd was only a few divisions away like in the 180-190 range then maybe he would have a chance but not when he's basically a 100 lbs. away.
Hope you're not being sarcastic, but his long arms did a ton of work for him in securing those takedowns up against the cage. I'm not saying that there wasn't a plethora of different aspects of grappling technique displayed during those takedowns aswell, but to say that his reach didn't help him take DC down is a bit silly.
Basically Jones has the easiest time of anyone in the UFC of clasping his hands together whenever he successfully manages to drop levels while pressuring someone up against the cage. He doesn't even have to get his head against his opponents chest to create additional leverage like most people do, since he can reach that much lower with his arms. That enables him to use his whole upper body as a lever, Greco-Roman style. He's just insanely good at utilizing his height and length advantage in your typical wrestling positions, and that's unusual as fuck. Not to mention how his in-fighting in general is just amazing to watch.
N 100 pounds.
Hunt was at 10 inch reach disadvantage vs Struve
So your point is...
Exactly now put your dunce hat on
The height difference would make the reach difference worse for Floyd against Wlad.
I'm guessing that's why best gr wrestlers are build like basketball players
Jones needs to get surgery to shorten his arms so his natural body isnt better than the other guys.
Then cormier has to lose some muscle mass because he is thicker and has a center of gravity advantage over jones.
Then cain needs to have his lungs replaced with an average 250lb guys lungs because his lungs suck air better than kimbo slice's lungs therefoe he has a physical advantage. Shut up.
Omg, my opponents muscles were bigger than mines and thats why he won waahhh, if he didnt have those muscles he wouldnt have slammed me on my head. Wahhh
You do know you can't even attack the legs in Greco-Roman?
Or did you just not feel like reading the post you quoted thoroughly? Either way, I don't really care.
Yes yes, stop your asinine babble.
Acknowledging the fact that one's physical dimensions actually play a crucial part in any kind of a grappling or striking scenario does not imply that any credit should be taken from the athlete in question. No idea how you would assume that.
My props to Cormier. It's tough fighting someone that much longer than you.
And Fedor and Silva were much quicker than their opponents. I'm not a Jones fan, but this discrediting him for having physical advantages is weird. Of course he does, all top level fighters do
DC had a what, 10 inch reach disadvantage against Bigfoot and a broken hand and still KO'd him. What's your point?
