Fedor lost three fights in a row and before he retired he ko:d Rizzo and Ishii and then hanged up the gloves, but could he actually still continue today if he wanted before he will turn to 40? 205 lbs i assume that would be the weightclass + training at Greg Jackson.

Thoughts?

he was in to many wars (like many pride legends) his body would give up on him

Cutting weight and going to Jackson's is not the universal answer.

Why the fuck would he train in Jackson's?

Continue, but not at a level at which he would find success against the elites. The dude is old. Over a decade of constant fighting and Sambo will do a number on you, mentally and physically. That, plus the fact that he broke his hands time and time and time again will eventually stack up. He can enjoy retirement now as a national hero. Respect.

No he can't cuz its not up to him. Its up to god.

Yes... if he wanted to fight... he certainly could. But he doesn't want to so... move on.

for sure he could, the big question is whether or not he could be competitive with the top guys today. I always felt that if he made a few adjustments to his style he would be fine. But he could easily fight lesser known guys and continue to win

Yes, absolutely.

He was unique, due to his set of skills.

However, he would have to upgrade his camp, get more modern training or get top notch coaching staff and training partners.

He could still compete and be top 5 in my opinion.

And I think the HW division needs him, because there just isn't enough high level HW fighters, so they need as many as they can get. Fedor would be great addition, top 5, get him with a good camp, if he was willing to leave russia...he would definitely a threat.

Yes he could.

Issue is that once you were the top fighter continuing to fight you either do it strictly for the paycheck or hopes of recapturing the position you once held. While in the meantime suffering greater body decay.

Fedor made the correct decision. An his standing in Russian MMA ensures future income without the need to continue fighting professionally.

The fedor that fought Monson, rizzo and iishi would beat most HW's

If he trained and was mentally in it, he would still be around #7-#12 in the world by my guess. Dont you think he would still beat guys like Miocic, Schaub, Big Nog, Nelson, Kongo and give guys like Mir, Barnett a tough fight.

Could Fedor still be fighting today, of course he could. But, should he? That's the real question. My guess is that he's cool with his place in history. Is financially secure, even if not wealthy, and doesn't have the demons to chase a lot of guys his age have.

Sure, he could. He might slot in around #10 in the UFC HW division if he was training hard...

Not on the path he was on. Fedor in about 2007-08 accomplished everything that motivated him. He was financial fine, took God to a new level, had more opportunities outside the sport then ever before, stopped training like he use too, and started to kind of realize there just wasn't much for match ups to get him excited for. Physically I never really saw a whole lot of change in Fedor in the last 4 years or so. Most of what I saw was mental like poor game planning, very wild, and just overall kind through caution to the wind in his stand up. All which doesn't bode well for any fighter today.

Of course he could, he would still be top 10 today but he wouldnt be the best. Cain would wreck Fedor's shit real bad.
