I don't know if this has been discussed at all, but if DC wins it seems to me that it is a given that there will be an instant rematch, holding up the contender line even longer. This seems to be the way the UFC match-making is run these days. Beating the champ is not good enough, you have to beat him twice in a row.

This would obviously screw over Gustaffson/Rumble who will have to wait until long after what would likely be a July 4th long weekend rematch. Perhaps delaying their chance until the end of 2015.

All these rematches are robbing us of some potentially great NEW title fights. Yes, I realize Robbie/Rory already fought and same with Alex/Jones, but Rory seems to have upped his game since their match and Alex, although he lost a decision, beat Bones into a living death.

When will someone, other than us sherdoggers who do nothing but bitch and complain, call out the UFC on staging too many immediate rematches?

    Depends on the win.

    Close decision? Sure.

Dumps Jon on his head while shouting "Did you think I'd just let you kill me!?" Probably not.

You're getting a little ahead of yourself here. The fight hasn't even happened. Cormier has to win first, beforr a rematch might be offered.

It depends on how the fight went in my opinion. If its an entirely one sided beatdown (it wont be), then no rematch. If its competetive or contraversial then there should be one.

That second part made me laugh, I think Jones gets the rematch simply because he had so many title defenses, Barao didnt get an immediate rematch, and if Gus wins that would be a rematch anyways.

There are too many rematches with title fights nowadays. Hendricks Lawlor 3 without Hendricks having fought anyone is a joke. Lawlor had to earn a rematch but Hendricks fights Lawlor 3 times in a row it's ridiculous

Ok, it's been discussed, but the ramifications (screwing over Gustaffson again!) maybe haven't been

Exactly. Lawlor is such an exciting fighter that it's a shame we gotta see him fight the same guy again and again, a guy that wants to wall n' stall his way to victory, or win a cheap decision with takedowns in the last 30 seconds of each round.

The way UFC does things, it's hard to see that not happening if DC wins.

DC will almost kill Jones on Saturday. Jones will still be offered a rematch, but will decline.

Barao got a rematch, he was sick and couldn't fight but the fight was booked. If Jones loses he'll get an instant rematch regardless of how badly he loses.

I hate trilogies of fights. They are fucking stupid 99% of the time. What happens to Hendricks if he loses again? JDS territory. Same thing for Lawler.

Not sure what the fuck Joe Silva is doing, but they need to fire hos ass.

I think it'd be a fair time for Gus/Jones 2 if he loses... or wins.

I don't expect Jones gets an immediate rematch if he gets demolished. If it's competitive though(even if he does get stopped late), yeah, he probably does.
