Via TKO, would you consider him the GOAT LHW?

First fight went the entire distance, with no one really in danger the entire fight.

Despite the Sherdog revisionists claiming it was a one-sided thrashing from Jones, it was a very competitive fight. Even Jones himself said so in the post-fight press conference.

So, if DC were to come in and win MUCH more decisively in the rematch, would that leap frog him above Jon as the greatest ever at LHW?

Hard to say. Jones may be USADAd and look like shit. Depends on a lot.

I think he would need another win over Jones.

And then 1 other title defense to cement himself as LHW goat.

Jon has a number of wins over past champions but if DC beats him twice that would definalty help him to surpass Jon's legacy.

A win over an active Jon Jones is a huge notch in your belt but after all this crap the win will not mean near as much

Would be awesome if it did happen...I doubt he finishes Jones but I feel confident that he beats him this time.

If he finished Jones after Jones had two recent, non-interrupted-by-suspension fights leading up to it, sure. In his first fight in over a year, his second fight in a 2 1/2 year span? Beating him under those conditions is less meaningful than the opposite result would be.

Not DC's fault, but it is how it is.

I'd say he would have to have a rematch. I know if DC wins there would be a lot of people jumping on the USADA train, but JJ has had one fight in over 2 years. I'd say Jones should jump back in line, fight the loser of Manuwa v Oezdemir or Gus, and see what happens from there.

This is going to sound like an odd response.

    If DC wins decisively/dominantly, I would rank DC as a top 5 all-time P4P.

He never lost as a HW and was never threatened in any of his HW fights. He'll have beaten every fighter at LHW he faced, and he's faced some very talented ones.

I despise Jones, but he's had a crazy run of dominance over a lot of fighters. Even if he loses, he's probably still LHW GOAT unless DC also adds a couple more wins after beating Jones to extend DC's title defense streak.

What is impossible to know is how much PEDs influenced Jones's success.

I believe DC is clean (or as reasonably clean in this sport as one can get) but that Jones has cheated and benefitted from it.

With a non-controversial stoppage over Jon Jones he's the greatest hands down. He fought and beat guys at HW too. If Jon Jones post USADA turns out to be a shitty fighter, then that simply takes away from Jones' accomplishments, not from DC's. So DC would look even better.

No. Jones would still be the top light heavyweight of all time, followed by Liddell, Ortiz, Couture and then Cormier down there around fifth or sixth. This is only if we're talking strictly UFC.

If DC finishes him he steals his legacy and sends him into a spiral of coke induced crimes and rampant Ubereem level PED use when he unsuccessfully tries to resurrect his failed career in Bellator.

    Yes.

And there wouldn't be much of an counter-argument to it.

If Jones looks like shit it would just further cement DC as the LHW GOAT, it would look like Jones only got to where he got with roids.

IMO there would be a need for a 3rd fight.

But it could also be argued that a win over Jones at UFC 214 puts DC above him. Jones is a big favorite to beat DC in the rematch. A lot of people believe he is this freak athlete who could beat any LHW, PEDs or no PEDs.

If he loses, that image will be tarnished and many people will blame USADA testing. So yes, a win in the rematch could put DC over Jones all time.

Definitely give him more ammo for the conversation of GOAT but it still will be hard to surpass him. Jones has literally beaten the who's who of the LHW division.

Would need to be a third fight.

nope. Likely there will be a part 3 and he could lose. Besides I dont believe there is any such thing as a greatest of all time. GOAT's change every 5-10 years. Soon as Daniel loses a couple in a row you'll see a bunch of "was DC really ever that good??" threads. Anderson was considered the GOAT by more than 85% of the MMA world pre-Weidman. After his losses and his 1 Roid pop now its lucky to be more than 50%. Just 10 years ago the 4 GOATS were Liddell, Fedor, Cro Cop and Couture. Only Fedor is still in the discussion and hanging on by a thread.

I remember when fighters needed a decade worth of title defenses to be called GOAT.

No....not even close. Jones has a far more impressive resume and title defenses.
