with that logic ufc would only have like a handful of fighters and can only put on couple shows a year (given all the injuries and mandatory medical time off)... and that ufc/zufffa would make sh*t. And definitely wont be able to pay those few fighters anything.

It's a meritocracy.

Fighters are paid relative to their impact to the bottom line and their bargaining power.

The vast majority of fighters are replaceable and are fighting where they can make the most money.

The landscape has been steadily changing, though, and the fighters have more options.
