which weightclass would he be in?

Basically im wondering why some guys pack on the muscle (or fat) like Cormier or Romero while other guys like Cerrone or Nate Diaz carry almost no muscle.

Seems odd that we see such a wide range of muscle being put on different frames. Anderson Silva and Jon Jones are the best ever and carry very little muscle.

Should probably try another forum or sub-section, I would assume most of the posters here are still discovering and finding surprises on their own bodies.

You only have so much control over your body type.

I think training background comes into it, wrestlers like Cormier and Romero tend to be much stockier than strikers or BJJ guys. Although there are obvious exceptions. In regards to Diaz, I think the Diaz brothers do far too much cardio to be able to add significant muscle mass to their frames.

Different muscle distribution, some deal with it excellently, some use styles conflicting their bodies. Different muscle types too. You can see gymnasts not appearing ripped but instead toned, yet when they begin doing their moves we can see how ripped the body becomes under stress.

Cormier is incredible for doing what he does and being so short for his class.

thats true, but theres only so much variation being shown there, not Nate Diaz to Roy Nelson range.

Hell, i think Cormier and Nelson could both get to MW, it seems clear they could both get to 170. 35 lbs of fat and muscle would come off Cormier and he'd look like a 170 pound RDA.

Different frame sizes/body types. Some people just have very thick/wide skeletons that can carry way more muscle mass.

Question is, would DC still be able to perform well at that weight? He's got a very stocky frame, so it's possible that losing all that muscle mass with hinder his performance.

If he was skinny he could even make LW I guess, he's not tall.
One thing that I don't get on Cormier is why he still appears fat with all the weight cut, his fat must be the type that won't go away never.

What the hell is going on in here? Surely you know that different people have different body shapes and compositions, regardless of how they train and eat - which are obviously also massive factors?

He wouldn't have the amazing wrestling he has if he had a Diaz like body. He wouldn't be DC.

I cant believe you've been on this site since 2012,and you have no idea of combat, body shape, otherwise why would you want to make DC a lightweight,as if he would suddenly be a chiselled statue without his "fat".The guy is probably in the top 10 of fighters,in the whole wide world, and you want him to look better and more cut, so you can -------------------. Not all gifted athletes have perfect "looking" bodies

I was answering a question of TS, but I guess you couldn't see the connection.

Heavyweight is the only weightclass where short stocky guys have the advantage

I would surmise that if he had the same body type as Diaz he would likely then fight in the same division as Diaz. Call me crazy

Im sure you're right, if only because he's used to fighting with that build his whole career.

But it seems to be that the best fighters at every weight (maybe except heavy weight, understandably) are strong but don't carry the sort of bulk of Cormier.

I wonder if he's not a GOAT contender at 170/185 trapped in a 205 body.
