Hear me out and this is based on a lot of variables of course so let me explain myself fully.

Now say that Conor Mcgregor actually decides to come back and dance with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov, that's a tough thing to say when he's been running for 1 year 2 months and counting...

You would think that UFC would make Conor Mcgregor vs. Tony Ferguson first if they actually have any notion of going by the book, seen as Tony is holding the interim Lightweight belt. Now if this happens and we get Conor Mcgregor vs. Tony Ferguson for the belt then in the meanwhile what does Khabib Nurmagomedov do and what would you do if you were him ?

  1. Does he fight Eddie Alvarez or Kevin Lee ?
  2. Or does he wait it out a couple of months to fight the winner of Conor and Tony next ?

It's also possible we might end up getting Tony vs. Khabib but everyone knows Tony defending an interim title would be fucking stupid...

I can't imagine either of those guys want a piece of Khabib.

And I love Eddie, but, you know.

I'm fairly certain Khabib vs Tony is next. Conor is really not in the picture

It will be (i'm guessing) Tony vs Khabib for the real title, Conor will return in the summer to fight the winner.

Stupid but thats how the UFC works.

Nice pics in this thread so far.

I hope Khabib stays active regardless, and either Eddie or Lee would be a good fight. I kinda think both would be up for it actually.

The best thing to happen for the fans right now would be if the UFC strips Conor and lets Khabib and Ferguson fight for the title. Business-wise I don't think they're gonna take that risk - it's hard to say and maybe depends on how difficult it is negotiating with Conor.

So, if they let Conor keep the belt, which they likely will, I hope that both Khabib and Ferguson agree to fight anyway. Tony probably won't so imo give us Khabib vs. Lee or Alvarez.

What do you mean? Khabib has only fought dudes who can't defend takedowns lol... not to rag on him cause he's an absolute animal but his best win was against RDA who clearly had a horrible cut for that fight. I think we NEED to see Khabib fight either Tony, non-staph Kevin Lee or even Eddie. Sure he's 25-0 and what, 9-0 in the UFC but foreal he has like 3 quality wins in total..

Conor does not return before Tony faces Khabib.
He then mocks the loser.
Asks for ridiculous $$.
Never gets it.
Retires 2 years later.

I don't see Eddie accepting that fight.

It depends on the timing. Since it will take a while for negotiations and he doesn't fight during Ramadan anyway I think it's highly likely he just sits this one out.

If Conor vs. Tony actually does happen then Khabib vs. Alvarez would be fun.

Defending a takedown in mma is a whole lot easier than in wrestling. Almost everyone these days has solid take down defence.

And which three wins are you counting as legit?

Put Khabib vs Artem on the undercard for a laugh to hype up Conor vs Khabib

Having Tony defend the interim belt is immensely stupid, but since it's the UFC and Conor is a chicken shitting his pants, that's probably what will happen. Dana will concede to this ask from Conor, one last time.

But if somehow the logical, reasonable scenario was to take place, Tony beats Conor and unifies the title before facing Khabib. And Khabib should wait for the winner.

I like this "Connor has been running" meme. Would you not take a job that pays 10X as much? He had the clout to make either the biggest or second biggest fight in combat sports history, and got paid boatloads of money to do it. That's not running, thats just not being retarded. Literally anyone would have done the same thing. He lost a BIT of that clout by losing to Mayweather, but if he can get another massive payday by fighting Pacquiao, Pauly, or even a Mayweather rematch, of course he is going to do it rather than take a huge pay cut and fight someone like Khabib.

If Khabib wins a few more and consistently makes it to the cage on weight, he'll get a big name and the fight will happen. He would be an easy guy to build up the way he mauls guys, but the money has to be right for McGOAT. Khabib might have already had that status if he fought more than once a year. Nobody in McGOATs situation would take a huge paycut to fight a guy who is pretty much unknown to the average person but that dangerous.
